94.9-KCMO- Kansas City - BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING

What a bore of a station.
Zero announcers, except mornings, and no VT'ing.
All just computers playing songs with liners.

Even liners saying "Merry Christmas" from DJs the Cumulus clowns fired a year ago.

I'd been away from the market and heard the station this weekend.

What a lousy way to run a once-great oldies station.

It should be live in afternoon drive, too. Also, it hasn't been oldies for at least a year; it's been classic hits and has actually done better than it did as oldies.

However, beyond those two points, I have to agree with you. They got rid of a lot of great people who really were the station's sound. It also doesn't make a lot of sense to me because that station is the LP-2 for the Kansas City area's EAS alerts. From what I've been told, it has to be staffed 24/7. So, I'm guessing either someone from one of the other stations or a trained monkey sits there and watches the transmitter log and EAS.

Also, from what I've heard, Cumulus has decimated the Fox. However, it does appear to be live in middays. I know a lot of my old friends at the Cumulus cluster in Mid-MO were put out of jobs, too, in their massive round of cuts last month. It's really sad. Say what you will about Cumulus and its programming philosophy, but you used to at least have to give it credit for avoiding blanket firings. Now, it doesn't even get that credit from much of anybody.

Cumulus - or CLUE-Less - is the poster-child for why gigantic corp. radio companies shouldn't be allowed to own as many stations in every market possible.

Their mucking up the entire industry, and laying off hundreds of their workers while not taking back any of the $8 million signing bonus their head honcho got is pathetic.

I like the doo wop they play on Sunday nights, but wish there were a DJ to inject some personality. It's hard to find any oldies stations that still play oldies.
