94.9 The Bull the new #1 Country Station?

I heard a promo a couple of time today on The Bull saying in effect "Thanks for making us the new #1 country station in Atlanta". Now I know The Bull has moved up steadily in the ratings over the past several month, but I also know that Kicks 101.5 hasn't lost the same amount what the Bull has gained, so how can the Bull make that claim? Unless they're talking about a certain demographic or day part.

Atlanta's New #1 for Hip-Hop or the New 97.1 the River, same or similar principle. I imagine there's no accountability for false advertising as it's a subjective term.

Otherwise Cox would be in a world of hurt for B98.5's being #1 To Listen To At Work.

Simple. The Bull is the #1 NEW country station because it's the ONLY NEW country station. Kicks is way older, and that's Advertising 101.
<wink>

(Whether the word "new" comes before or after "#1" only matters in English - not in advertising.)

Awww. Now you've gone and spilled the secret. Now everyone will know that marketing is nothing more than putting modifiers in any order that makes the dumb masses think it means what we want them to think.

That kind of poetic license is taken by stations all the time. You're correct that The Bull could be ahead of Kicks in some demographic. It could also be the station's opinion that it's number one, in other words the better station. Q100 has been "Atlanta's #1 top-40 station" when it's been ahead of Star 94 as well as when it's been behind Star 94.

Whether the word "new" comes at all doesn't matter to Cox.

I heard Kate McCarthy still loves her NEW job at the New 97.1 The River.

I have to say that the Bull does play a better variety. They've become a bit more daring with their playlist which makes it interesting. It's nice to hear some of the 90's music too. I'm growing tired of turning on Kicks and hearing Taylor Swift every 15 minutes....there's alot more music out there!
