94.9's New Morning Show?

Why run an ad if they have settled on Moby? Moby probably started the rumor. Yeah Baby

Companies have to run ads and take applications under penalties of law.

As much as folks want Moby on 94.9, I doubt he'd go. He thinks he can get back into markets he was on when he was with Kicks/ABC, and save money by having a has-been program director call the shots.

Maybe CC should look to the past and bring back John Wetherbee for mornings? He did well on Peach when he was there... and he could do country. Any thoughts?

I like that idea!
Rick Skylar, in his book about his days at WABC, said he picked a morning man who "everyone would want to sit and have breakfast with."
Big John would certainly fill that bill! He would be a good choice.

What about Bandy and Bailey...they used to work for Clear Channel

They did work for CC, but have a good thing back in Lexington, Ky and WLXX.

Here's another canidate for the morning job at The Bull... how about former WNGC morning man, Tim Ciccirelli? I heard that when Moby came on board, WNGC had a bunch of complaints, and wanting Tim to come back. My guess that if Tim came back to radio in Atlanta, then WNGC will be worrying. Most listeners switched over to Eagle 106, Kicks or the 3 Carolina stations 92.5 WESC, WSSL 100.5 or Kiss 99.9 Asheville, and if they knew Tim was back on, the remaining WNGC loyal listeners would go over to 94.9 in a heart beat.

I mean, come on... Kicks isn't the only station to worry about who 94.9 gets as a morning man! Moby should be worried as well, that someone else could come along and steal people from his "Biggest Small Town In America".

But, I'd love to see Wetherbee back on 94.9

Moby himself says "no." He's committed to his syndicated show, which is doing quite well. Besides, who'd want to work for Cheap Channel?

LF

Based on talks with CC country friends outside the area, I'd still put my money on Big D and Bubba. ::)

But that is still only inside informed speculation, and not an insider's knowledge, if you know how I mean the difference.

Syndicated shows don't work in Atlanta. I think we remember John Boy and Billy. People want somebody local to talk about local stuff not generic crap. I could be wrong but what syndicated show has worked or is working here?

Concerned

Tom Joyner

He quit flying in to do his show? When? There was a big article on him in the AJC not too long ago about how he flys from here to there to the other to do all his shows. When did he quit all that?

Didn't Joyner stop flying from Dallas to Chicago many years ago?

LOL I dunno boo boo. That's why I axed............. I thought he flew into Atlanta as well to do his "live show". Maybe I got the wrong dude in mind.........

Don't forget the huge amount of success earned by the syndcated "Bob and Tom Show."

*dry heaves*

Big D and Bubba are on CC's Bull in Augusta. I don't think Weatherbee would leave his OM gig in Savannah to do mornings for this cluster. I think he may be a bit sour on CC-Atlanta's management right about now. Then again, I haven't asked him either, so I could be dead wrong :)

I know I would have reserves on coming back to the cluster that screwed over my old morning show.... a popular one. However, if they offer him a good deal, I think he would come back... mainly to be closer to his family.

No one has mentioned that 94.9 could get "Rick & Bubba". They had a strong Atlanta following when they were on Turner South (even I got hooked in their last year on tv). I bet they are trying hard to land on either the Bull or "the radio station formally known as 96rock".

Not to mention Moby isn't still out of the picture. He can do the show from his new studio, and during the 5 and 6 minute avails he offers affiliates, he can do local on 94.9. If they were going to do syndication as a morning show, Moby would be the better choice, since he's best known in the market.

Make sure that when you say "Bubba" you clarify it isn't me lol. So who IS the "Bubba" you are referencing? Is he any good? Carrying me "name" he BETTER be or I'll send a voo doo hex his way lol. Seriously, there is a DJ that goes by Bubba other than Bubba the love tongue? Who and where if you are willing to share the info...........

Bubba the Love Sponge, Rick & Bubba, Big D & Bubba...I always thought a good name for a sexy female country night jock would be Hubba Bubba.

Thought it might be an opportune time to bump this thread with the news that Moby is soon to start on Clear Channel-owned Rooster 106, country station in Columbus, Ga. With al the previous comments about how he probably would never roll with Clear Channel, it sure makes you wonder if Mr. Moby is Bull-bound now...
