I can only sum it up this way....Yank the Hank, why.....I heard Helen Reddy singing something late this afternoon...if that's what they mean by "everything country" then it won't be long before we hear Burl Ives belting out that classic country hit "I've been working on the Railroad". The imaging that I heard lacked creativity and the liners were just south of stupid.
Going back to Helen Reddy for a moment, I nearly had a wreck verifying the frequency when I first recognized the voice and once I realized it was on the Eagle which is now "the Hank", I had to laugh.
It appears to be jockless, which means they blew out all the on-air re-treads on the Eagle who bought into their "commitment to the Eagle" speach....unless they parked them over on the "Lite FM"....that seems to be their strategy when they want to get rid of someone, they put them on the Lite FM and after awhile the humiliation (if not the music) is too much to take which results in the jock quitting.
Besides poor programming decisions, something ugly must be growing over there because in the last couple of months they have fired or lost 8+ full time staffers in programming and engineering. And, if the most recently departed can be believed, the new business manager is or soon will be running the whole show.
One does not have to imagine very long what the conditions must be like for those who are still there.

Emmis Indianapolis' HANK-FM is making in roads on country powerhouse WFMS (Susquehanna). OF course that doesn't mean the ENC version is the same as Indy HANK.<P ID="signature">______________

I wonder if the people at Archway ever wonder why Beasley doesn't have a country station here?
Answer: because the folks at Beasley get it.

Archway does not get it at all......they invest 2 1/2 years in the branding process of Eagle 94, blow-out good talent (Stix and Davis)and replace it with another to be branded name (competing for the same country demo) in a market where the only thing that can beat WRNS is a comittment to the long road of becoming a heritage station. Can I get an AMEN!
With Hot 96/103.7 they are moving back to a more urban slant in a market that has two urbans....leaving the opportunity for WERO to mainstream their playlist and positioning which causes P1 confusion and erosion for Hot and makes for a long and difficult ratings road to travel.
As for the Lite FM, why do you turn on a soft AC, which is designed for in-office lisenting, with a signal that can't penetrate any kind of building in either the Greenville or New Bern markets.
I suspect the comedy of errors will continue along with the turnover which I am certain will bring more change.

Out of the three, I liked Carolina Country best, just for the liners, "Broadcasting from a triple wide behind Wal Mart, this is CAROLINA country"
