949 The No Sound

Did anyone catch the 15 minutes of dead air tonight? I thought for a moment that the station was stunting tonight. I guess no one listens to the station since this is not the first time I've heard their automation crash.

sounds like I missed some pretty compelling radio there. its not like anyone has ever had technical difficulties before.

Heard dead air on the Wolf around that time as well...maybe a little earlier.

Not to mention Q102's processing sounds awful lately. Bonneville has work to do when they take over.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed the crapy way Q has sounded lately. Not sure why they changed anything if they did but having them set between Kiss and WEBN you can hear a huge difference.

and all week, when 96.5 was in satellite mode, all the local stopsets we clipped at the beginning...

Also heard the 45minutes of dead space on Mix Sunday morning around 9:30...the big sucking sound I believe was Whoopi

It's hard to believe that radio has gotten to the state it's in today. Maybe Dead Air is more compelling than the actual programming is. :)

Which daypart was that happening in? Syndication can be touchy, particularly if the network is sending closures at the wrong time, sending them more than once, or not at all. It's all timing.

I'm also left wondering if something happened over at Infinityvillecomm for two of their stations to have problems at similar times. I've heard that power surges and other weirdnesses affect the building that houses their studios on a regular basis.

Most consolidated facilities have all the servers, STL links, and such in one central rack room. If the power is flaky and there's no automatic failover to a backup link or UPS protection on the gear, it would be very easy for a power problem in the rack room affecting the studio-transmitter link gear to knock multiple stations off the air.
