95.1 FM in Houston ???

I ran across a survey for a radio station that mentioned other radio stations along
the Interstates. This was printed around 1979 I think, and it mentions KACO 95.1 in Houston, while also saying there was a KALO 95.1 in Beaumont. Was there ever a
Houston station on 95.1 and one in Beaumont on the same frequency? I do not think
the FCC would allow this. Short spacing.

Old Chicago

There was a KALO 95.1 in Beaumont in the late 1970s. It later became KZZB-FM and was quite successful for awhile until the owners ran out of money. The station went off the air, and was purchased late by what is now Clear Channel and became what is now KYKR. KYKR moved to the 95.1 frequency from 93.3 when that frequency was lost to Houston - although I remember KYKR broadcasting country on 93.3 for awhile after their move to Houston.

I worked for B-95.. kzzb-fm for about 4 1/2 years. Before moving on to TV. It was a contemporary hit radio station. We were #1 Persons 12+. Our biggest competitor was K106 -- KIOC - which I believe is still around.
KYKR bought the B-95 signal after KZZB went dark. AND moved their signal over to it.
