95.3 fm

I am currently on 45 north and West Rd and I'm picking up an ok station on 95.3 Fm. Haven't heard any commercials nor Radio IDs. I heard a weather announcement saying ITS 56 degrees but no mention of any town or city. The only station I could find here close is in Cleveland Tx. Not a fan of that genre of music so I had to ask Siri the name of the song.

Edit::: I just heard the call signs but missed them. I think he said KYPI from Magnolia (I think) or Victoria. Sorry couldn't catch the name since I got an alert on my phone.

Ok got it, its KYBY backyard radio...

Yep, KYBY really goes a long way. I'd think they're pushing 1,000 watts, not 100. I shouldn't get a stereo signal at Home Depot in Cypress, I would think. The only time I've seen that kind of distance is a LPFM in a place where the whole FM dial was vacant.

Actually, if you're hearing Backyard Radio on 95-3, you've got KTTF-LP Tomball. KTTF-LP is the simulcast partner of KYBY-LP Magnolia, which operates at 103-5.

Here you go, Señor: http://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=KTTF&ccode=1&city=&state=&country=US&arn=&party=&party_type=LICEN

and KTTF/KYBY's website: http://backyardradio.com/

Those maps you post are hard to understand well at least to me they are. The ones at radio locator are easier to read. Like yesterday you posted that WE HAVE AN AMENDMENT
are the red lines the lines that show for 105.3 the lines that the translator will cover?

As I mentioned in the other thread, the red circle is the one you'll want to keep an eye on. It's the newest proposed coverage area.

Bill, I've long suspected that KYBY has the hand of God on its transmitter. I've picked that LPFM up at Buc-ee's parking lot in Waller. There's no way I should've been able to do that, either. In Hockley, I've caught it duking it out with KCYB, which you'd think wouldn't be the case right in Cypress Radio's backyard.

Magnolia is 269 feet above sea level, which is noticeably higher than much of the surrounding area. That probably helps give KYBY a little boost.

Looking at sea level KCYB is at 392.75 feet, almost 133 feet higher than KYBY, so not sure the lower height is an advantage. Seems height, that KCYB, is higher by almost 133 feet, would have the edge versus getting slammed.

I can't say for sure, but an engineer I know said KYBY was at about 120 feet (a dozen ten foot sections) with their two bays. As I recall, the original license was at a lower height. I haven't checked, but it has me wondering if KYBY got a minor mod to go higher, assuming the engineer is correct. Haven't checked the FCC database to see but Rec NET and Radio Locator both say 86 feet HAAT and they're, especially REC NET, on top of things. Even so, antenna height above sea level is still lower than KCYB which has me perplexed as to why they tear up KCYB in KCYB's 60 dbu.

While on the subject, if Backyard Radio is carried by the Tomball station I suppose the licensee, the City of Tomball has a properly executed contract in place. I'm sure they do as Cities are real careful not to get themselves in legal trouble. A buddy of mine wanted to let another LPFM on his station and man was that a lengthy agreement.
