Because this HD2 to analog translator deal the FCC approved, like it or not, at least provides the opportunity to provide niche formats to a given area. Win for radio stations who get an additional "station", win for the FCC who can say they have tangible results that these new translators "serve the public interest"

More importantly, there also aren't a lot of formats that either aren't currently covered and/or any formats that CC Raleigh haven't bungled as of recent.

Too bad that the HD2 to translator deal is going to just give the big guys more frequencies that could have gone to what few forward thinking AM operators and/or future LPFM.
