95.3 in Dayton

The other morning I picked up a station in Dayton at 95.3. They claim they are all 80's music but they certainly don't play the entire range of 1980's stuff. I listened for about an hour and it is certainly "head banger" music but not much else from the decade.. Kind of a good sound. They also said they broadcast on 100 something but I didn't know where that station was. Anyone tuned in to this station. How new are they? Do they broadcast on a station that can be picked up east of Cincinnati?

95.3 is also on 99.1 WHKO HD-2. It covers most of Cincinnati, if you have an HD radio.

I like the station, but find it bizarre to play 30+ year old music AND mock WTUE for being "your grandfather's rock station"

The simulcast is on a 99 watt translator at 101.1. They've been calling it The Eagle for maybe 7 years with different variations on Classic Rock. This 80s Rock Hits direction has been just in the last couple of years. Cox does a good job with it. Not sure what else they could program on that signal. A buddy of mine once described Eagle as "a radio station for the kind of guy that takes his shirt off before a fight."

Well, if they are appealing to 50 yr olds, then they could claim their "father's rock station"
