Did 750 AM stay on? Was 97.1 on? 95.5 is on 97.1’s tower. (I do not know I was in a meeting at the time.) I am not sure if they share a STL with 97.1. IIRC 97.1 is an originating (or entry I am not sure of the correct term), EAS station. Most of the far North Ga stations’ EAS units are tuned to 97.1. Main EAS stations are suppose to have to have some backup abilities. I know there use to be some government funding to “key stations” for the old EBS system. KIUL 1240 Garden City KS (an EBS relay station) use to have a “bomb shelter studio” in the basement. At one time the plan was for some stations to stay on the air during “WW3” and these stations were to transmit only on 2 frequencies. In those days there were engineers and tube type transmitters that were capable of tuning a station to another frequency. Some of the 1950’s AM radios have a little marking with a “CD” (Civil Defense, sorry compact disc had not been invented yet). I was told the reason for only two channels was to fool AM radio directional finders in aircraft. I guess a reaction to Dec. 7 1941.
We can all thank God that this system was never used!
