I think there are alot of factors in that answer. John made a good point, that today, the same artist is on many tracks with the colabs. I'm sure we all agree that Rihanna is over exposed, but are those all her tracks? No, she is on an Eminem song, a David Guetta song, a T.I. song, and so forth. I'm sure a station would be fine playing all those in the same hour, in addition to her newest record. So with that being said, the rules are more loose now. But keep in mind, in the late 80s / early 90s....I was about 15. I would think others here were close to that or in early 20s. Our perception was different then. Music didn't suck as bad. We weren't quick to notice a 75 minute rotation when radio was fun.
BTW, how come nobody complains about how often commercials rotate? Do we ever stop and say, Hey they played that 20 minutes ago! The music is just bait to broadcast what they actually get paid for.
