95.5 - STILL NEW?

I understand that 95.5 changed their slogan to "Atlanta's New #1 for Hip-Hop" back in 2005, but how much longer can 95.5 milk the "NEW" moniker? It's old now... especially when "The Beat" surfaced in 1999... :-\

Does anyone even care about 95.5 The Beat? No one in Atlanta takes that station seriously nor does anyone even listen to them. They need a complete OVERHAUL!!! The personalities are lame and not interesting :(

:D The entire station, jocks and signal is a joke, not to mention the false slogan!

Agree. It really is a total mess. I could pick it up better when it was actually in Athens.

I think it's a mess too... I was just wondering if they're milking the "new" in their slogan to lure listeners? Let me choose my words carefully: The music they play has a faster beat and higher pitch, same 4 songs over and over, and I just don't know about the booty call... the latter is just dirty radio.

It's a white station trying to be black. ??? ???

And yet, somehow, with no one listening, they finished #3 in their target demo, behind V and Hot.

Damn, too bad the station is failing.

Talk about a voice not matching a body, listen to What it is and then look at CJ's pics. She can't talk anything like that off mic.

Bring Stacy C back. Smurf Dawg and CJ are unlistenable. Dudes, I love true Hip-Hop, and I'm as pasty white as Barry Manilow. But, I don't try to sound like I'm from the hood, and I've probably lived in more Black neighborhoods than any of the jocks (exception: Toss Swaid, if he's still there).

I think Tosswaid left 95.5 sometime last year. IMO, Clear Channel's WILD 96.7 was way better than 95.5 THE BEAT when it comes to Rhythmic radio in ATL. Why don't Cox jus blow it up and go urban as POWER 95.5? I forgot, if that were to happen no money would be put into the station (ex. 97.1 JAMZ). How long will V103 and HOT 107.9 continue to make them look like fools? Lets not get on the so called "new music first"....

I thought it was just me that felt this way about the jocks on 95.5. CJ tries too much to sound like she's from "the hood" and it just doesn't fly with me and obviously others. Yes, their new music first is new on 107.9 THEN V103 and about a month or so it'll end up as new on 95.5... go figure.

And, I don't know if V or Hot still play it, but why are they STILL playing "Welcome to Atlanta" by Ludacris and JD? Yes, it's WAS a great song and it was the ATL Anthem for a short minute, but 99.9% of the clubs mentioned in the thing are LONG GONE! There was one remix done, can't there be an updated version at least? Hey, the artists live in the ATL, don't you think they'd want to update their material? Or, better yet, they'd probably want their hometown radio stations to MOVE ON TO THE MORE RECENT RELEASES!

So does this mean on Saturdays we won't find you up in one tweezy?

That's one of the one's that's still around, isn't it? But, it's not in the same locale. They built a Publix there.

I'm married, in my 30s, and have a two-year-old. Unless I'm getting paid for it, my clubbing days are over.

Club 112 (the old Riviera on P'tree St) shut its doors to make room for new condos :'( Has anyone noticed when 95.5 plays "Welcome to Atlanta" they block out Frank Ski's name in the song.

So the Fall book is out. 95.5 is a solid #3 in their demo, up in share, up in cume and up in TSL.

Don't you people ever get tired of being right all the time?
