95.5 The BEAT

What is going on at The BEAT. Heard Diane James left the building a week or 2 ago. Why can't they keep any talent besides the fact that the station sounds automated all day long.? Is Lee Cagle still running things over there?

Just spoke with Cagle. Yes, Diane is gone. Been gone for three weeks. He said she just moved back to California after three years here.

I mean, I know they're a Rhythmic station, but can't they be more Rhythmic with less Hip-Hop? I liked them and used to listen to them when they had a more diverse playlist, especially when they used to go head-to-head with Q on Fridays and Saturday nights with their dance mix shows hosted by Stacy C, and Q's show was hosted by TSJ.

Seriously, if they keep going this path, they might as well dump all of the jocks, flip it to 95-5 Jamz, and have a sweeper between each song yelling "we caught V-103 playing 247 hours of commercials and just FIVE minutes of music! At 95-5 Jamz you get 100 TIMES MORE MUSIC with fewer commercial interruption (because this doesn't sell) and NO DJ CHATTER (except this annoying promo 100 times an hour)"

ha ha, I laughed when Cox tried to take V-103 on with those lame attacks. Of course V-103 runs more spots than 97Jamz...let's see, when you're the number 1 for decades, your a 50mil biller, you'll have more ads...not playing commercials on commercial radio isn't something to brag about. That's like McDonald's saying "we've served billions and billions LESS each year".

95.5 is V-103 for "white people".

V-103 is unstoppable. I believe they will be the ONLY station in this market making money 5 years from now. Seriously.

I doubt it. There's probably more white people even listening to V-103 ;D

LMAO! Does anyone know how "CJ and Murph Dawg in Da Mornings" stack up against "A-Team Morning Show" on HOT 107.9 and "Frank & Wanda" on V103 since all 3 play Hip-Hop and R&B in da mornings.

The target audiences are different. The Beat's format is hip-hop targeted to white suburban kids. African-Americans do make up a significant portion of its audience, but that format across the U.S. is not intended to be urban or deliver a black audience.

95.5 ranks 3rd with their target demo, their latest trend was way up, and they have a double digit share with teens.

And yet there are posters on this board who are critical of their performance?

Ahh The Beat, i remember its sign on 10,000 songs in a row, and they played all the hits Star wouldn't touch. I remember Amber's "Sexual" was played a lot, lol....it was good to hear dance played on ATL radio. The Beat was best when it was CHR in my opinion. Open House Party, Club 95-5 was incredible, and Toddzilla!!!!!!!

It looks as though we're not in the target demo. Teens still have a glisten in their eyes and positive outlook on radio. That doesn't shine here.

And, they were broadcasting from a porta-potty in Popotalico (sp?)! Or, that's what their ID used to say ;D

IMO, WILD 96.7 "Atlanta's Party Station" was the better Rhythmic in town.
