95.5 The Game report card

So, The Game has been on the air for a few weeks now. I've listened quite frequentely, and across all dayparts. Their grade card out of the box is a D. No programming promos, legal ID's used as liners, no cross promotion or even any mention of the local program that's on the way, no benchmark elements. All this stuff that could be fixed in a day/week at the most, and should've been figured out before the flip, they had plenty of time. There are a number of sponsorship opportunities being ignored and nobody seems to be working with sales to help generate revenue. Obviously there's no PD or even anyone versed in the spoken work/sports format to help out.

They do have some decent shows, but the morning show will never compete with Mike & Mike; that needs to be local. The new local show from 9a-noon will be an upgrade, Rome has jumped the shark from noon to 3, and Gotleib is decent in afternoon drive. Sure, Torg is joining the team in a week/10 days, but he won't have much affect on the things listed above, as he'll likely be focusing on the Q morning show. I do like the weekend programming. They have guys from other CBS markets plugged in, and is fun to hear guys in other local markets.

What say you? And please, let's not turn this into a signal/engineering thread. Let's try and keep this to content/programming. We all know about the signal.

You'd think that if they were going to blow up a format that's has been synonymous with the station for over 50 years, they would replace it with something that they really believed in and were going to give 100% to, not 10%.

Come on, it's commercial radio in 2013 -- no one in charge really gives a damn. Not there or anywhere else. They all know they're a dying breed.

They don't post anything on their facebook page, either. No sports scores or info. Notta.

The station in Cincy at 100.3 posts thing on facebook and has two local shows but they are definitely making an effort. More than you can say for 95.5 The Game

Agreed. I am not surprised at the pathetic effort considering it's a Wilks production, but this station sucks. I listen to Rome on occasion, but no local show means no me as a listener. Why bother if you can't compete with 97.1, and bump actual pro sports (NASCAR) to that crap 107.1 signal???

I don't understand why Wilks holds onto a cluster in Columbus... yes I know outside of QFM the signals are not the greatest but it almost seems like "no one is home" here in town running things... My understanding the flip to sports was a "corporate level" decision...

It seems like their not making much effort in making their stations the best here in Columbus... I don't get it because for instance they do well with their Country station in Kansas City.

The new local show will start on April 29th?

"Arch Madness" of QFM96 and former Ohio State Football Star Matt Finkes are doing a show from 9a-12p weekdays now. I was listening and enjoying it...but apparently the online feed died somewhere between 10:40 and 11am....

Torg's comeback has been delayed. He was hospitalized last week with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. As a fan, hopeful for a speedy recovery!

That's the same thing that took jakej out of commission for several months last year.  According to Mayo Clinic it is rare, with an incidence of only 1-2 people per 100,000 annually.
