They'll officially launch July 2. This is a test phase, they ARE authorized for 100 watts... I'm assuming they got the tower up at their new site (approved April 2nd).

Tenichally I believe that Media Bridges IS a Corporation, right. So they are Corporate owned, right? But I know what you are saying.

No contempt. Trust me. I own several independent stations in the Cincinnati market and believe me, nothing we do follows Corporate rules. For the few hours that Media Bridges is getting in their time share and for only 2 years (unless that has changed), knowing the time involved to run a station, the commitment involved, I'm not sure I would make the investment. and for 12 watts?

There's no 2 year limit that I know of for this station -- I believe that the successive license terms only come into play when multiple parties cannot agree to a time share schedule.

Media Bridges is NOT for-profit. They are a community public access organization. Just want to clarify that... And I never heard there was any two year limit. The holdup if I remember was when Cox filed a petition for recon a year or two ago. Logistically, it's not easy to launch a radio station and it's especially tough in a recession...

Originally there were 4 winners of this frequency and the CP was not going to be shared, but rather each CP would have been granted for 2 years only, then the next CP holder would build and serve their 2 years, etc. After 8 years, the frequency would be available again. My knowledge is based on helping a client who also applied for that frequency.

In what way? Financial? You are not supposed to apply for a radio station unless you have the money to build it.

This is true, RockNuts. But financially, yes. I'm not sure what the filing fees are, but right there, when WVQC was held up by Cox Radio's petition for reconsideration when they got a permit for a signal in Sharonville, the funding became an issue for WVQC at least. Not to mention, they needed to hire workers to put the antenna up, wire it, etc., and that costs money, too. That's before they got the grant from Ohio Valley Foundation. Now, I don't foresee any problems since everything is set to hard launch in just under two weeks. Of course, that's barring some unforeseen circumstance.
