95.7 The Vibe Kansas City Now CHR/Pop (Kings of Leon, Daughtry, Shinedown)

http://www.957thevibe.com/ 95.7 THE VIBE KANSAS CITY http://live.cumulusstreaming.com/kchz-fm 50 K

Watch out Mix 93.3, it looks like Rhythmic CHR 95.7 The Vibe is now CHR/Pop. This is among the handfull of Rhythmics that have been giving support to Pop artists like Pink and Katy Perry in the past year. This week the station's added:
Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me"
Kings of Leon "Use Somebody"
Jason Mraz "I'm Yours"
Boys Like Girls "Love Drunk"
Gavin Degraw "In Love With A Girl"
Gavin Degraw "I Don't Want To Be"
Daughtry "No Surprise"
Shinedown "Second Chance"
Nickleback "If Today Was Your Last Day"
David Cook "The Time of My Life"
Kelly Clarkson "Already Gone"

Forgot to make a couple of important notes
1) KCHZ's signal reaches the Topeka market very clearly, and it's the first since that CHR/Pop was available in Topeka, a market of over 200,000 people. KLZR 105.9 was the last station to do CHR/Pop for the market.
2) This marks a return to CHR/Pop for KCHZ, which used to known as Z-95.7

I noticed that last a few months ago and posted it,, look it up. Anway, powerhits 97.5 fringes into Topeka as well.

I started monitoring the station more closely after you'd mentioned something about it, but it wasn't until this past week that the transition to CHR/Pop was obvious. Up until now they were playing a few crossover Pop songs that a number of Rhythmics have been supporting. Now, on the other hand, they're sounding a lot like I-93 Dallas.

Im gonna have to check out I 93 Dallas,,,, I heard it isnt as reserved as the one in Indy and nashville....................... The cumulous chr at my G/F house which is Hot 100 WFR is pretty good......... Even dance mixshows.........

It's all about PPM. Which started the first of October for the Kansas City market.
Mix 93.3 has a higher cume than Hot 103 Jamz.. and the vibe is trying to tap into that.

That station has been shifting from rhythmic to chr for at least 10 yrs now...

KCHZ was so conservative on hip hop towards the end and so recurrent that they reminded me of Rhythmic AC.

Is (the very low rated) KKSN also a CHR/Pop. If so it would seem crowded with 3 stations. Or is KKSN more of a Hot AC?

vibe is actually a lawrence KS station, closer to Topeka, their signal gets beat up by some country staion just west of dowtown. Dont know why they dont market it to Topeka where the signal is much better. Last time I heard them was in like 98 when they where still channel z 95.7 so they may have had a signal upgrade by now.
