95.7 The Wave in Fort Worth!

Yesterday morning I was driving on Loop 820 in Fort Worth and 95.7 The Wave (smooth jazz from Houston) was coming in crystal clear. That is the second time that has happened. Where is their tower?

They are in that Misouri City antenna farm. I am too close to the 95.7 in Oklahoma to get it - but you may have a clearer shot from Ft. Worth. There are regular reports of it and KODA from Southern parts of the metroplex. Back in the early 80's, KRBE was an easy catch from the metroplex.

There was some skip floating around yesterday, and I expect today, too. I had a 92.9 from Tulsa yesterday.

That is really interesting considering how close it is to the Ranch at 95.9. I used to be able to get KLBJ from Austin.

95.7 is one of the 9 stations on the 2000ft Senior Road master antenna tower..(The original Sr Rd tower is the one that fell in the early 80s during construction of the FM antenna). Been on that stick several times myself..the Miller tower at Cedar Hill is its close relative in DFW; however, Sr Rd changed its combiner a while back in the HD conversion...so it may be closer to the Cowboy tower now in config.
92.9, 94.5, 95.7, 96.5, 97.9, 99.1, 100.3, 101.1 and 104.1 are the ones on Sr Rd iirc......

Before that 2000 ft stick fell in Houston in the 80's, I can remember driving down Central Expressway and getting KRBE 104 FM in the car without any trouble...

But problem there Steve is NONE of the FMs made it on to the original Sr Rd....only TV Channel 20 (before it became KTXH)....it was on the air as the FM antenna was being hosited...and had to go off the air as the antenna and crew went by the TV antenna sidemounted...and never came back on that fateful day...but KRBE and others at the time were still on the old One Shell Plaza master antenna downtown (700ft high)...probably a better spot for ducting into DFW...just as Houston's 102.9 off the Ennis St 1000ft tower does into DFW and covers up MIX in Garland and Ft Worth...

Driving in from Hurst to Las Colinas this morning my magic radio was picking up Sunny 106.5... This is out of Longview right? Came in clearer than 106.7. (Casa's signal seems weaker than when it was KDL.) By the way... the big prize give away on Sunny this morning was dinner for two at the Chick-Fil-A :D

KOOI covers Longview (and Tyler, and a good chunk of East Texas) but it's licensed to Jacksonville. The tower is a few miles north of there, about halfway to Tyler.

And Chick-fil-A dinners are a big deal. East Texans are easily amused. No bull.

KOOI was skipping in, along with some other East Texas stuff. KOOI is pretty strong in Plano and Richardson, I suspect because we are further East. Having adaptive IF technology in the radio really helps, too. In fact, I'm a regular listener to their Sunday morning jazz show, they are even on a preset on my radio.

No, they share the antenna with 102.1 on another stick...and they are supposed to be directional (HOW the hell you make a FM antenna directional at 93.7 and NOT 102.1 I have yet to figure out!!!) Sr Rd is a Harris CBR omni antenna....KKRW could not operate from there becauae of their directional needs.
