95.7 The Wolf Announces Morning Show

The official press release:

THE NEW 95.7 THE WOLF TO LAUNCH "Y'ALL-TURNATIVE MORNING SHOW"
ON MONDAY, APRIL 16, WEEKDAYS FROM 5 A.M. TO 10 A.M.

Bay Area's Fresh Country station announces new program line-up

SAN FRANCISCO, April 16, 2007 -- When the new 95.7 The Wolf launches the "Y'all-turnative Morning Show" on Monday, April 16 at 5:00 a.m., it will reflect the country station¹s vow to remain ³predictably unpredictable.²

The announcement was made by Scott Mahalick, KBWF Prime Minister of Twang.

Hosting the five-hour program will be radio veteran Gill Alexander and ultimate renaissance woman LeBaron "LB" Meyers. Alexander is well-known to Bay Area radio listeners for his on-air roles with KMEL in the evening and, most recently, morning drive at KISS FM. Meyers brings an interesting and varied background to the on-air team, between an investment career, a passion for both basketball and yoga, as the author of the children¹s book "Happening of Girroo," and a communications degree.

Marcus Osborne will be executive producer of the new morning show, and he will also have an on-air role. Osborne was a key part of the Alice morning show, particularly his movie reviews, before moving to KMEL where he contributed to the morning show with Chuy Gomez. Most recently, Osborne has been an on-air personality and producer of the "Renel in the Morning Show" on KISS.

Market veteran Sue Hall will deliver news, traffic and information, along with "Information Officer" Eddie King.

New line-up, award-winning hosts

Midday Personality and Music Director Nikki Landry takes the mic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nikki comes to The Wolf from WBEE in Rochester, New York. She was nominated by the Radio Music Awards as one of America's "Best On-Air Country Music Personalities."

Legendary Show Host JoJo Kincaid takes on The Wolf's afternoon drive from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. JoJo has been an air personality in eight of the top 10 markets in America and has been nominated for both Gavin and Billboard "Air Personality of the Year" awards.

Rounding up The Wolf's on-air lineup is Tic Tak, 7 p.m. to midnight, hosting the craziest, most exciting, phone-intensive nightly broadcasts in the Bay Area. Tic Tak's mission, "to put 1,000 people on the radio each night!"

The new 95.7 The Wolf went on the air on March 1, featuring country hit-makers such as Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith, as well as cross-over artists Michelle Branch, Sheryl Crow, Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp and more.

"We've been working with Nashville on new and unique ways to connect artists with the Bay Area music fans, like never before," said Mahalick. "The Wolf will embrace what is great about today's fresh new country," he added, "and will reflect the unique taste of the Bay Area audience with a presentation
that is high energy, fun and entertaining."

1000 calls on the air in one night? There goes the TSL :D

Gill is an interesting choice. I think of him as more "old school" mellow, not the high energy fast talking type they usually tap for a morning show, much less a morning show on The Wolf, which is positioning itself as a super high energy station. If I remember, Alexander was also the original afternoon DJ on Kiss-Fm, before they brought in Lee Baby Simms

It might work. I'm sure everyone else will be blabbing wanting equal time and it will be nice to have the anchor be somewhat mellow. Remember MORNINGS is MAINSTREAM. You don't want everyone on there screaming. Leave that to JOJO. ;)

It's refreshing to see a station bring in some 'hired guns' from outside the market. Each jock is a specialist in their daypart and it's obvious by listening they're having a blast. Makes me kinda jealous...real radio with energy, lots of listener interaction and fun. What a concept. And the music OOZES appeal for those white, pop driven adult females that aren't into the urban side of CHR or Soft Rock.

The next trend report from Arbitron will reflect The Wolf's first month on the air. Curious minds will be watching closely.

You have a future in writing press releases.

"Is this the same CHR JoJo?"

It's not the JoJo who used to be on Wild 107 and is now a CHR jock in LA. I think that was JoJo Wright. The Wolf afternoon jock is Jo Jo Kincaid who has basically been an Oldies jock the past few years - first on K-Earth, then here at KFRC. He lost his job when KFRC flipped to MOViN, but said he loved the Bay Area and wanted to stay. I guess his patience paid off.

A Much Better morning Show would have been Sam Van Zandt or Steve Jordan !!!!!!

"A Much Better morning Show would have been Sam Van Zandt or Steve Jordan !!!!!!"

Oh, I don't know - Jordan has a great voice - he does a great commercial - but has always been a little too KOIT-ish for my taste. He had afternoon drive at KFRC (Classic Hits) for awhile - they replaced him with Jo Jo Kincaid, who was much better, in my opinion. Van Zandt was good at the old K-101, and later at KSFO when it was still MOR, but has been phoning in it since then...and that's a long time. In the mid 90s, they replaced Sam in afternoon drive at K-Big with John Mack Flanagan - again, a good move.

Kenny - I'm surprised you didn't mention JMF for The Wolf.

Of course, it's hard to see Gill Alexander as a morning DJ - I've never heard him do anything but straight-up no-frills announcing, but I'm thinking he must have done a great audition tape, or something. Let's give the guy a chance.

Yeah, LKELLER is right. Nikki Landry, Tik Tak and JoJo are from outside San Francisco. Kincaid had been very loyal to CBS, doing afternoons at K-Earth in LA for a few years as a favor to a higher-up within the company even though he's at least a generation younger than what you would consider 'Oldies' jocks. I would imagine that loyalty ended when he got a knife in the back at KFRC. He had been back in San Diego doing voice work until joining The Wolf. And yes, he LOVES the Bay Area.

JoJo Wright got his name from Kincaid while working at a station in Orange County. His PD suggested it during the time Kincaid was blowing it up at Q-106, San Diego. Interesting that much of the imaging on the Wolf is voiced by Jack Murphy, the first morning guy at Q-106. Such a small radio world. At any rate, it's great to have fresh, energetic air-talent come into the market. IMHO, it's been needed for a while.

Jimmythebasett, Youre way off about John Mack Flanagan, get real, your talking about one of the coolest voices in radio,, we the listeners of the Bay area were fortunate enough to have JMF, you probably never had the privilage to have the DJs we use to have on the air here, Let me know when or where you did radio, Jimmythebasset is totally out of line, Kenny in Concord

I can "take it or shake it" with country music but I have to admit I have been tuning in "The Wolf" and I do like the energy, I only wish that other stations would get that same energy on the air. The air staff sounds like they are having a fun time, even JoJo has a new "high energy" level that I didn't hear from him on KFRC.

why you say that? he sounded good on kfrc

"There is also an on-air personality in New York going by the name.... J.J. Kincaid!"

Don't they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It reminds me of the late 60s when every city had to have a Top 40 morning jock named "_______W. Morgan" copying the original Robert W. Morgan in Los Angeles. KYA San Francisco had Roger W. Morgan. It must have really POed the original, who was famous for his bad temper off-mike. Of course, his real name was probably Robert Lipschitz, or something.

"I can "take it or shake it" with country music but I have to admit I have been tuning in "The Wolf" and I do like the energy, I only wish that other stations would get that same energy on the air."

Same here. I find myself drawn to the station because the high energy and enthusiasm is a refreshing break from the boredom of the other music stations. Love the tortured puns, too ("Y'all turnative morning show", etc.). It reminds me of Doctor Don Rose, who would have me groaning in pain as I laughed. Unfortunately, 3 country songs in a row is about my limit.
