Scott Mahalick the master of contemporary Country in Seattle will put the new SF project together and he will bring in some more of his people from Citadel days and Jimmy hears (big bassett ears) that it will win. His brand of country not only builds brand loyality with country users, but with other format P-1's. 95.7 THE WOLF HOWLS ACROSS THE BAY FROM MARIN TO SAN JOSE.

102.1 The Wolf? Hope Not!

As long as it isn't "102.1 The Wolf". I remember Scott from my "Rock 104" years. He is a genius but an arrogant a**hole. Hmm. he is bringing back some of his people from his Citadel days? Probably not from his Citadel Modesto years as he stabbed so many people's backs including former KATM/Kat Country 103 PD Ed Hill.

"957thewolf.com was registered blindly at Network Solutions on Feb 16."

Although a little googling reveals that there's "The Wolf 95.7 FM" in Fredericton, New Brunswick - so it's possible that it's them.

I'm willing to accept that stranger things could happen than a country station in the Bay Area. But I ask again, what would make "95.7 The Wolf" a success where "95.7 The Bear" was not? I know...execution, right?

You had to dig deep for the Canada station. Impressive.

The Bear was better than a 2 share in 6 months. There's not a single CBS FM that wouldn't want that share today. Nor will most of them "move" to that share anytime soon.

someone registered 965thewolf.com but that is probably from the Cincinnati station

You mean it could soon become the #1 Country station in San Francisco?

I assume that's a pun, given that the ratings for most of the CBS stations are "MOViN" downhill fast. Granted - The Bear got better ratings than either The Drive or Max-FM, though not as good as Z95.7. Given that Country is an obvious format hole here and CHR is not - Country is probably as good a bet as anything for 95.7. It certainly wouldn't be a big-time success, but rating just outside the Top 10 would certainly be an improvement.

Didn't Country already failed twice?

Remember Y93.3 (1993-2001), & 95.7 THE BEAR (2004-2005). Why would country work again? It did horrible numbers with Y93.3 and 95.7 THE BEAR.

Rumors that the new Entercom staff may get their cowboy hats at a staff meeting on Wednesday morning.

"Rumors that the new Entercom staff may get their cowboy hats at a staff meeting on Wednesday morning."

Will 95.7 have an air staff, or will they be teaching John O'Hurley to say "podner?" How about Cowboy Sue Hall, or bringing back JD, if he hasn't ridden into the sunset.

MAX is dead -- they're running a computer-voiced "countdown clock" 19 hours and change to ... whatever the new format is.

Here's a letter from Max to his listeners (those who were in Club Max received this):

Today is both a sad and exciting day here at 95.7 MAX FM. On one hand, we, like you, are
saddened to see Max go away. We had a good run in the Bay area and truly enjoyed
interacting with you, our Max fans. But, as a wise philosopher once said, all good things
must come to an end.

And that leads me to the exciting news. We are preparing a brand new radio station that we
believe you will like even more than Max. As a loyal Max fan you are among the first to
hear about this station. While we can't tell you the name yet, this new station will be
fun, energetic, Bay Area focused and unlike any other station in the area. We will debut
this new radio station at 7:50 Thursday morning.... and we sincerely hope you join us for
the ride.

(note, on the actual letter sent out "Thursday" was mispelled in the second to the last line... I've corrected it so conspiracy theorists don't draw some funky conclusion from it) ;)

Radio and Records has confirmed that Entercom will Flip recently acquired KMAX/San Francisco to "95.7 the Wolf" Thursday morning (March 1) at 7:50 a.m. PST. Entercom director of country programming Mike Moore told R&R the station will kick off 10,000 songs in a row with Big & Rich's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy," and continue jockless until further notice.

The Cincinnati station is 97.3

96.5 is talk owned by Cumulus.
in that market a lot of things have happened

I DON'T CARE WHO IT IS ......AS LONG AS IT IS COUNTRY!

I am tried of hearing KRTY cry about the SADDLE RACK. They caused the situation and have made their listeners pay for it. Their job is to play music and not involve me in the whining and fued of the air waves.

KRTY has bad mouth the SADDLE RACK in FREMONT for way to long with the commericials for the other club, the traffic congestion to the club, and the lastest is the have contacted Country Artists that will be appearing at the SADDLERACK and stated "if they play there, they won't play them on KRTY" .....a .....THAT IS CENSORSHIP! They did it recently to EMERSON DRIVE

BRING On The Wolf. Bring on the competition. They already have me as a loyal listener and KRTY who?

Good Luck! Don't make the mistakes KRTY did. AND FINALLY .......Country in the EAST BAY!

Go WOLF

Laurel

The Saddle Rack should still be where it really belongs and that is in San Jose! Fremont where in the world is that? Or perhaps you prefer the Brass Rail?
