95.9 The River now Chicago's classic "alternative"

I have zero issues picking up either XRT or Q101 here in the western/NW suburbs on any radio be it in the car or home/garage. I live in Elgin and have another house in West Chicago, our kids go to school in North Aurora. So i travel through this area ad nauseum. Never had any issues.

How do you think I remembered the song and the band when I posted? Honestly I could'nt recall if it was Marcy Playground or Darcy Playground, probably because I equate it to Marcy Darcy, Al Bundy's annoying bra burning neighbor on my favorite show "Married With Children".

Anyway, time will tell. WERV was pulling a .2/.3 share the last 4 months. I honestly can't see them pulling anything better than current, targeting a tight market niche, that as I originally stated "was an answer to a question not asked" to begin with.

I don't think they care about those ratings.

WXLC actually jumped in the ratings for a few books after they flipped to Star but they changed the music. At the beginning of Star, the music had more variety. More like a Hot AC format. Prior to Star, WXLC was basically an Adult friendly Mainstream CHR. At the beginning of the summer last year, they tweaked the Star stations to a more Rhythmic and Pop Hot AC approach. Lot of B96 type throwbacks. 102.3 and 96.7 in particular dropped pretty far in the ratings after that. Crystal Lake actually went up with the Rhythmic-Pop lean. This is an example of a one thing does not work on every station.

The management at that company is a disaster if it's even existent at all.

I live in the southwestern part of the Chicagoland area and I have trouble sometimes with both XRT and Q101. Not every day, but some days I’m better off streaming them than trying to make the over the air work. I’m reluctant to give further specifics about my location for personal privacy reasons (which is why I declined to name a local store I frequent).

I will say that I was in St. Charles a short while ago and XRT was coming through perfectly there (I did not test Q101). So perhaps my specific neck of the woods has trouble with those two stations while yours doesn’t.

Yuck.

Kudos to Q101 for ditching that worn out show. Beharrell's shtick grows old fast.

His voicetracks feature him making witty remarks to staged callers. (Notice how he never gives out a phone number?)
