$95 Talking House

The Talking House website is advertising a transmitter that is currently selling for $95. Is this any good? or is it a rip-off. It will play a 5min loop of audio in memory. I'm curious if it can broadcast "live" so I can connect an mp3 player to transmit non stop music around the property.

The quality control of the Talking House transmitters varies widely. Some people claim great results, other say theirs is only mediocre, while mine barely works at all, with very weak and distorted audio, even though I got it still new in the original packaging.

If you want to play music, the IAM transmitter for $195 has better fidelity.

But to answer your question, there is a transmit mode switch that allows you to choose between
the built in message loop or live broadcasting, and there is an input for an external live source.

I previously reviewed both the standard "Talking House" as well as the "i.A.M.Radio" version of the same transmitter on my site. Hopefully the comparison will answer some of your questions regarding the sound quality of these units.
