How do you feel WIIL Rock with the change in the Zone to Oldies be enough to move them up in the ratings significantly?
Edited by radiowoman on 10/30/05 02:17 AM.

Showed up in Milwaukee with the change of WLZR to Classic Rock. Not much though. The signal is better in Milwaukee then it is in Chicago.
______________

No 95.1 out here in the SW burbs. Would be nice to hear the new rock bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Trapt, Shinedown...etc etc etc etc

Regardless of ratings, NM markets WIIL as a Kenosha station, so they're primary marketing is to advertisers in Lake County IL & Kenosha County WI, possibly Racine County, WI since there's primary contour over Racine County. Whatever ratings they get, it won't be that much in the Chicago book. They're in and out in the Chicago book while they're in the Milwaukee books more often. And Jeremy is right that WIIL is heard better in Milwaukee than in Chicago. Chicago has fringe coverage over Chicago while there's secondary contour over Milwaukee, which provides slightly better coverage over Milwaukee than with Chicago. Also Chicago is further from Kenosha than Milwaukee is from Kenosha.

The vast majority of the advertisers on WIIL are Lake County, IL. Traffic is for Lake County, IL and the vast majority of the remotes are Lake County, IL. So I consider it a Lake County station.

Libertyville
Gurnee
Lake Villa
Fox Lake
Volo
Buffalo Grove
Harvard
Lindonhurst
Antioch
McHenry
Kenosha
Burlington

are the most common advertiser locations
______________

WIIL ROCk used to pick up numbers in northern Cook and McHenry. I would assume they still have that.
I have heard comments from advertisers, that it's a pornagraphic station now. For people who aren't looking for that audience, it's understandable. However,
I'm sure there are plenty out there that want this audience, even if is a gentleman's club.
They also penetrate into the city of Milwaukee, in the downtown area, a short range. On another note, one thing I found interesting, was a remote they had with KB homes and Matha Stewart. Who was the poor person who bought that? I'm sure the people were rushing in! Maybe Ozzie and his wife.
But seriously, They haven't shown up in Milwaukee very much. They used to show up in Milwaukee and Chicgo 12+ all the time.

They get a good number of bars, several Lake County car dealers, a car dealer in Burlington, Texas Jays in Kenosha (A former gay bar which is now a strip club) and Buffalo Wild Wings. Seems to be popular among the 25-54 male audience. They seem to have gone into the more active/current rock direction then they used to be.
______________
