950 AM THE AVENUE?

Getting back to the subject of this thread, I gave The Avenue a button today. They got the one that had been parked on AM 850, which now appears to have actually cut over to a Hispanic format.

I'm curious to know if there's anyone on here from WNTD. Are we going to see some promotion? Even low cost items like bumper stickers would help get the buzz going. I have a feeling they don't have a lot of money for an expensive media campaign, but maybe it can take off on word of mouth.

I'm certainly telling my friends and neighbors!

So, then, where's Daddy-O Daylie when you need him?

I don't know, but I thought I heard Bill O'Connor doing a CET commercial about the quarter meter plan.
Remember, "call Mohawk 4-4100 CET for Television".

Yes, and how about Boushelle Carpets, the man with the deep voice "Hudson 3- 2700"? And they're still around: http://www.boushellerug.com/
The Boushelle commercials: http://www.boushellerug.com/static.asp?path=2888

By the way, AM 950 is great now (at night, that is) They need to go 24/7 and improve their signal!

I agree they need to go 24 hours with that format.

They should just pick up the phone and call friendly Bob Adams to arrange the financing.

At 5:00 AM WNTD switched back to the Relevant Radio feed. So perhaps the music format will be
on nights and weekends only, maybe RR decided to switch to only buying the daytime hours only.

I kind of enjoyed the music, I wish it was on 24/7. With the exception of the downtown area, the
AM 930 and AM 1270 signals cover most of the Chicago area during the day with a listenable signal.
I know RR is trying to sell those two frequencies, but; it is rather redundant to have the station on
3 different frequencies, not to mention expensive too buy time on a station when you already own
two stations in the area.
I love it! I love it! I love It! Oh yes sir-ree baby! just like the goods old day of long ago,
of adult standards of WJJD radio!!! or even better!!!
Bring back old memories of the old WBEE AM 1570......

I really love her man! How far that woman can get?
Oh wow Baby!!! Man ol man ol live!!!

Yup, call friendly Bob at Andover 3-2020.
I never did understand how Bob could be at all those offices at the same time.

That's why in print ads, signs, etc. you never saw Bob....only his shadow. The guy was moving so fast they could never get an actual picture of him.

He had to be moving fast with "50 offices in and around the Chicago area".

Was there a rhythmic tom-tom beat accompanying the phone number? (LOL)

There sure was. :)

In view of the current economic down turn, they should bring back the Quarter Meter plan.

...and now the station is streaming live! Just click the "Listen Live" link!

Enjoyable! But the site mentions Avenue91.1--obviously a noncommercial FM somewhere--but where? And I heard a jingle for a 24/7 call-in line (obviously just a line where you can record requests) at 718<something>. 718 is a New York City area code, so I guess the programming is done in the New York area. Anyone have any info on who is behind this service? WNTD is a leased-time station--right? So who is paying for this? And since I'm 900 miles away and can't hear the station over the air, what is on WNTD during the daytime? My guess is programming in some foreign language.

Dan,

It's "Relevant Radio" (Catholic programming) during the daytime hours.

Well, the programming may be done in New York City but Avenue91.1 is the positioner of WOVM, a station in Appleton-Green Bay WI, what? maybe 300 miles north of Chicago? Who woulda thunk it? I guess the operations of the Avenue format are almost as geographically diversified as the play list is musically diversified.
