950AM KPRC, maybe on a HD-3 subchannel?

Since KTRH is on 93.7 HD-3, shouldn't 950AM KPRC be on a HD-3 subchannel? Maybe 94.5? 610 and 650 are on subchannels.

I know the 950AM is in HD but when you go under and overpass (or there's lightning) it has the resync. 790AM is also in HD. Also, the HD gets turned off at night.

I have XM so I rarely listen to music, I do listen to the news and a few of the talkshows though.. would be nice to hear then in better fidelity.

I still question both the present and future value of HD. Is the penetration of HD listeners in the marketplace statistically significant? Is it worth the the investment in transmission equipment/antenna mods to rebroadcast the same staid programming on a platform with such limited reach? What's the point? The original selling proposition of HD was to allow for much greater programming diversity without requiring a subscription to satellite. Not much was said about the high cost of HD receivers which don't work as efficiently as you would expect nor is there a single compelling program on HD (at least in Houston) worth chasing. HD is a boondongle that will never catch on with the fickle public especially with all the competitive alternatives available today.

This is all pretty irrelevant since all of Clear Channel's FMs here in Houston are already equipped to handle it. They could simply pick one and drop it on there with little effort. It would literally take about an hour of some engineer's time.

Apparently, KSBJ thinks HD is worth sinking big bucks into. They're about to launch an HD-2 network aimed at the younger crowd. But, I'm not sure they will ever achieve the amount of market penetration that will make it pay off for them. And since they're all about money at that place it will have to pay off big. It's going to have to be a product that kids really want to listen to. Just look at the "Radio Disney" train wreck? Like radiobop said. Who's going to run out and buy an expensive receiver when you can listen to anything you want on your phone? There's just too much competition for that demo.
