951 wvxg now classic rock

Oh no, Bas has invaded stations they dont own. Dance Judy, Dance (or should I say Farid)

I heard it tonight for the first time. The jock said his name was Scott Manning. I wonder if he is local or part of the satellite. It only took 2 months to get it organized and on the air. Now, we can turn our attention to 1550 AM and see what changes he (Mark Litton) will make to that format. Bye Bye Spanish/Mexican.

What makes you think they will drop Spanish/Mexican?
I was told the format will stay Spanish/Mexican.

The River in Columbus was renting 95.1 up until three months ago according to this:
http://www.951theriver.com/

Checking the River 95.1 archived site, they were using ALL local staffing at one time:
http://web.archive.org/web/20060623043309/www.951theriver.com/staff.htm
So, they weren't simulcasting WCVO 104.9 out of Columbus when they were
renting 95.1. The expensive of the local staffing may be why they pulled the
plug on 95.1.

Is the new WVXG local or part of a satellite?

the station was run from WCVO, if you notice all the on air people were Voice tracked WCVO staff

at the beginning I am pretty sure they either had a live morning or afternoon drive slot on 95.1 The River back then 92.7 also had its own live talent for some day parts. then they eventually towards end aired the river satellite network along with 92.7 WCVZ which was all voicetracked.

River 95.1 never had local staff. The staff you see on the web site is the same staff you see on 104.9 the river in Columbus. They were not simulcasting, butting a second mix of music from the same pool and intermixing clips from the Columbus station DJ's. The entire station was pretty much lights out, Heck there isnt much room at the station in Mount Gilead, Its a modular home and one of the bedrooms as a studio.

The only talent onsite was someone to give school delays and emergency weather information. He was a temp/intern that lived near the station his job was to keep an eye on the place, hit the reset button on the music computer when it locked up, (way to often) and be "local agent" The first month or so they had DJ drive up from Columbus to do some local events, but that quickly was dropped when they had an audience.

The new format is ok,but I hope they dont mess it up with a morning DJ, If I want talk ill go to AM.

But River 95.1 did have plans to be locally staffed when it first went on the air.
River 95.1 even posted this June 25, 2004 Marion Star article on their website:
http://web.archive.org/web/20040902...m/news/stories/20040625/localnews/719375.html
This article says this: "The station will be locally staffed."

Is this what they called "local staffing"? A temp/intern that worked a few hours a week at the station?

Always remember, the key to radio success is being the theater of the mind.

I think after the first pledge drive when they figured out morrow county is a poor county and the money didnt come rolling in.

The sale of WDLR 1550 AM to Mark Litton has been approved by the FCC and they
are still Spanish/Mexican as of today.
