955 the beat has been replaced!

I was just listening to 97.1 HD2. 955 The Beat is no longer there. (For people without HD radio, They parked The Beat there after taking it off 95.5.) It is now The Rivers Edge. I could only listen a few minutes, but sounded cool.

What is "River's Edge"? Classic deep cuts? Something newer and/or harder?

Did The Beat move to another Cox HD subchannel?

Sounds interesting. I was listening online yesterday to the True Oldies Channel and I really miss them on 106.7 Like Shannon or not he's got a great sounding network. Awesome mix of music and just plain fun to listen too. Maybe Cumulus will bring it back once the sale goes through. I really dislike the music on 106.7 now.

Station is 100% mainstream rock. I guess that is called AOR???? Perhaps someone can correct me there.

This station will not play the newest rock, alternative rock, or deeper classic rock cuts. The song will have to be a hit before this station will play it. They wills stay away from the real real hard stuff but your not going to hear Deep Purple, Jethro Tull or other deeper classic rockers.

Here is a list of songs they played today between 4 and 5 this afternoon....
Van Halen - Running with the devil
Seether - Fine Again
AC/DC - Who made Who
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song
Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe
Nixon's - Sister (big hit from 1995 but a one hit wonder)
Offspring - Self Esteem (90's hit by them)
ZZ Top - Under Pressure
Scorpians - Rhythm of Love (this one caught me off guard)
Lenny Kravits - American Woman (song is already worn out)
Bad Company - Bad Company
Van Halen - I'll Wait (leave it to cox to limit the artist. Two Van Halen songs played in one hour)
Foo Fighters - EverLong
Three Days Grace - Pain
Billy Squire - Lonely is the night

As I said above: Very generic rock format. Really a lack of sub-categorical rock such as progressive rock, Folk rock or alternative rock. There going to hit the 90's hard which seems to be fad right now that will die out in a matter of a few years or less.

This format should stay on HD2. The rock genre freaks such as myself says.... TRY AGAIN! On another note, considering I think 97.1 the river has done a complete turn around with their music on the weekends by playing deeper cut songs, their ratings have dropped. Tells me that the rock music enthusiast of Atlanta prefer status quo music.

Sounds like what 96 Rock would have become had they not flipped to Project.

I'm disappointed that River and Rock 100.5 are doing so poorly...I thought that both were sounding better with the harder, deeper, newer stuff. IMO if anything River needs to get rid of the Stairway To Hotel Freebird burnouts.
