95X Going Gountry!

Apparently the Fall debacle of 5.2-3.9 for 95X has the brain trust at Citadel thinking taking on B104 might be the way to go.They're betting that with 95X now down to just over one million in billing and B104 near 6 million, taking just a third of that audience and revenue would put them in much better shape than they currently are in.
When?
SOON.

Duh!!!! I have been waiting for SOMEONE to have the b***s to do this. But with management over at Citadel so STUPID, can they do it? It is a great time to do it too...
CC is weak. Take just a piece of that cow-chip pie and you'll do well.

"Same music! Different dial frequency." Or better yet play more new country and kick B in the chaps!

YEEEEEE HAAAAAAA!!!!

Ed, I'm sure that you'd LOVE to have less competition for your own stations, and more competition for the market leader. Nice try.

Citadel runs a few successful Cat Country stations of their own. Any attempt at the country format in Syracuse likely would be a cookie-cutter copy and very likely, voice tracked. With Citadel's recent talent purge and budget cutbacks, would you be willing to bet the results would be any better than what they're getting with 95X? Seriously. Take a minute. Think about it.

He sure didn't like the competition in Albany. He ended up selling out to the god squad....

Where is our friend now? He was bragging about all of the improvements and great ratings the station was getting.

Ed you're a moron. And 95X is kicking Krock and soon to be TK's ASS. Here are the latest Arbitron Numbers, I know you can't quote cause you don't pay for em...

Overall 12+WAQX #7 w/ a 4.6% avg share (TK is #6 and Krock falling to 9)
Adults 18-54 #4 [EDIT](TK tied for 6th KRL 7th)
Men 18-54 #1 [EDIT]
Adults 18-34 Tied @ #4 w/ Krock (Their core demo!) [EDIT]
Men 18-34 #1 [EDIT]
Adults 25-54 #5 (KRL 8th TK 3rd [EDIT] .5 higher avg share and a lower cume persons)
Men 25-54 #1 [EDIT]

AND word from inside Walton Street is Nixon is scared, ratings continue to fall and they don't know how to program against 95X's Hunter Scott.

Going COUNTRY??? With a new PD on contract, all new imagin about to hit and TREMENDOUS ratings momentum for the format (two books ago 95X was in the bottom third)??? How many pounds of paint ships did you consume as a child for that to even come close to making sense? Or was it the horsey that kicked you in the head Ed??? Aside from the fact Levine's been floating (Hey! You know what else floats Ed??? That chunk of brain you leave in the bowl every morning) that rumor for years and it hasn't happened yet.

Rock is here to stay. Get used to it. And get used to looking at 95X's back Krock!

Oh yeah. What follows two strong books???

The return of transactional business. Angencies fell away in the wake of the Opie & Anthony debacle that killed X's ratings.

Theeeeeeeeeeey're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

Ed Levine and Kevin Legrett on the same board. Wow! Twofer Thursday.

I thought my screen dimmed when I opened up this thread, and my speakers suddenly emitted a "giant sucking sound".

Please. Isn't this like the 3rd time someone has started this rumor? It hasn't happened yet, and I don't see it happening now.
Let's save it for when it really has a chance of happening (ie. if/when Citadel ever has the money again, to properly promote a new station launch).

Otherwise, you're just gonna be the boy who called wolf. (No pun intended.)

That's sucking sound that you hear is the sound of money leaving Galaxy's coffers. Why is it the "X Going Country" rumor starts whenever KROCK has a bad book?

You'd know how rediculous that prospect is if you had any kind of large scale decision making experience in business. Ratings traction, investment in infrastructure (management, talent, imaging, advertising), momentum in the market (sales increases, new oppoortunities for business) only to chuck it all, go back to square one and then have to go up against the biggest, baddest station in the bunch??? That's like Burger King dedicing to go into the fried chicken business.

I guess that would only make sense to Eddy.

Kevin Legret is here! no way! That ships he sails on James Street is a joke. Unless you are a 'favorite' which we all know he has. Why can't these so-called leaders keep it in their p***s. Yes, everyone knows. Rumor or not somebody pleaseeee do Country. "Oh I am so scared.... I can't go up against them....let's keep playing Journey....

KL is the smartest guy out there and he will move by March 1.When the sales go down by $500,000 like the X did in 2008,you make moves.

He is a regional president. You are some joker pretending to be "the man".He IS the man.His employees love him and compared to Clear Channel, Citadel is in great shape.Take a look at the great job that he has done in Buffalo(not exactly boomtown) and admit that you can't deny the success!

BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA. You KILL me!

Thanks for the laugh. That's the FUNNIEST thing I've heard in a LONG, LONG time - and Heaven knows that HUMOR is needed if you're working for one of the consolidators these days.

smartest man I know? Let's look at that wonderful track record of the revolving door that is Citadel. How many managers have they gone through? That one guy, was a complete idiot.
Now they have a galaxy reject trying to be a manager? Keep selling those fifty two week schedules, ROS and bringing the market rates down down down. Anybody can grow up to be the President of the U.S. or a Radio Manager!

What's the word on Balloonfest? Citadel's Big Event. Did it fly to another Station?

It's hard to decide which line is funnier. In fact, we should put it up for a vote. Is it:

1. "His employees love him"

2. "Citadel is in great shape"

3. "Take a look at the great job he has done in Buffalo"

BTW - Under "Greasy Kid's Stuff", Citadel has gone from #1 in revenue to #3 in the market. Lines will be open until Monday at Midnight.
