96.1 carrier

A blank carrier on 96.1 , weak, and only in certain areas of east county, has been tenatively "located". Southbound 125, Christmas eve,it started
coming in near where 125 joins 54 west. It carried west to within a 1/2 mile of I-5, where it faded out. It never came back in during my trip to
south Chula Vista. Backtracking later on, it appeared again near 805 and 54, and continued until the road turned north (125), where it faded out.
The characteristics of this signal lead me to believe that it is located east of hwy 54, is low power , and is sharply directional.Which points to Mt.
Miguel, and Q96's "silent" booster. The booster, with the power turned all the way down, but still ON, will still emit (as I have measured on
several LP transmitters) anywhere from 5 to 50 milliwatts at the lowest setting. This will easily carry miles, esp. at a high elevation.
So, IF it is Q96, the carrier is still on, no ID's, and the beam is aimed about 265 degrees, not the stated 240 degrees. It should be bisecting J street and I-5, Chula Vista, not 54 and 805. If you travel this route, tune in.
Reception reports welcome.

Big 121

stereo signal in Santee with no noticeable audio on Dec 29.
