96.1 Fresno/980 Fresno

What's the story behind 96.1? Is this a translator? I note that it's the same format that was on 980, which is apparently dark? KEAP was one of my first jobs in radio....sorry to see any station go dark.

According to the FCC FM Query, this is a translator for 980 KEYQ and seems to be the latest of AM stations in the Central Valley adding a FM translator. Heard this station clearly from River Park all the way to just north of the Fig Garden loop. Unlike a certain low power FM, this station was placed on a good frequency, no co-channel interference and the closest adjacent, KUBB 96.3, doesn't bleed over onto it.

I found 96.1 just south of Ave 10 while on 99. Comes in well around Buchanan HS.

980 was off the air at the same time, which led to my question as to whether they've done dark. The website shows both the Am and Fm in Fresno.

Would be interesting to get some signal reports from around and outside of Fresno/Clovis. Kenrayc does deliveries around the valley, would be good to get his and other reports on this signal.
