96.1 is "Lite" no more...

"Lite" branding has been dropped from on-air and from the website. Which is appropriate since they've bordered on Top 40 for years...

I keep expecting WRCH here in Connecticut to drop its "Lite," but the branding continues into its fourth decade, even though you're likely to hear something like "Jessie's Girl" right after a "Lite 100.5" ID. I get that musical preferences change, and that today's 40-somethings prefer much more uptempo music than the 40-somethings of the '70s and '80s, but there really is nothing "lite" about that Rick Springfield song or many of the other '80s and '90s hits that station plays. "Lite" has become utterly meaningless.

96.1 WEJZ plays Bruno Mars and Selena Gomez...and even "Blurred Lines" on the weekends. Hardly "Lite" at all. :)
