Has anyone caught up on the doings of Kiss fm? I took a look at their Facebook page, and it looks like they held their annual shave for a cure for st. jude this past saturday at splashdown beach. a few observations:
1) why in the world did they hold it THE DAY BEFORE k104's kfest?! Pay $30's to get INTO the park then pay more to shave your head? Yes, its all for a good cause, but not enough bang for the buck.
2) their act didnt show up. they had Taboo aka the guy who does nothing from the black eyed peas scheduled to perform. and just days before he cancels. WOW i would have too considering the hudson valleys biggest pop festival was the day after and I wasnt also performing at it.
3) they only raised 6k, according to the st. jude donor page. how sad. they raised upwards of 20k with cj a few years back, last year they raised 9k, and this year dropped again. We know the economy is bad, but that ain't the whole story here!
I understand this event is all in good fun and for kids with cancer, but when you alienate your local programming and local talent (forget chris marino - he's 40+ and WAY out of that demo) you lose everything. they've lost their listeners, they've lost good local connections and they've lost their pull to raise thousands for dying children. lose for clear channel. lose for st. jude. and lose for those poor listeners who showed up to a lame event!
