Speaking of CCs KISS FMs, the KISS in Des Moines at 107.5 has been with that handle for 13 years, yet the station remains with the original calls of KKDM from when it first signed on in the early 90s.
Now, why is there a need even to update the call letters? And I'm a purist that thinks all of these handles/slogans/identifiers should just go away! But they won't.
So, while CC is spending a bit of time updating 96.1 calls to better reflect the KISS handle in Omaha, here is my semi-regular appeal for CC in Des Moines to resurrect the old KSO calls. 1. CC's 1460, KXNO applies for waiver to restore KSO to reflect its historic use on that frequency. (There are a number of precedents for this,

I'm contradicting myself to be sure, but in the interest of preserving a bit of radio history, this would be a worthy action. The KSO calls are reactivated, they definitely are a fit with the KISS moniker, and CC retains the KXNO calls which are most appropriate for a sports outlet.
As far as promoting the KSO call letters on 107.5, it would just be used at the top of the hour legal ID. Most listeners won't know anything has changed.
Heck, while we're at it, let's have CC send KSO to 96.1 as a bit of mud in the eye for the folks at Journal!
