96.1 KISS RDS

I've noticed 96.1 hasn't been broadcasting any form of data on their regular signal lately. Anyone know what happened to that or when it may be back? I like knowing the song title. It is broadcasting just fine on their HD channel.

I've noticed that, too. I guess they're unaware of the problem or their engineering department just doesn't care.

Maybe someone should call, Email, or inform them via Social media (if they are using Twitter, Facebook, or what ever this months "hot" site is). Squeaky wheels do get oiled. Sometimes there are more important issues at a station. One of the stations I have helped in the past did a "minor" software update and they have barely managed to have programming and billing functions since the Saturday update. They have "go to my PC" on the office's PCs which is not working either, this might be a nasty Microsoft or security issue.

I would go with they are unaware, its a simple fix....and somebody in Pittsburgh besides me has a HD Radio

I have had an HD radio for 4 years. It is still in its box....never opened.

I bought one a couple of years ago, had it for about a month and took it back. It was a Kennwood (not a cheapie) while in HD mode it was constantly switching from HD to analog and back. Once you get 8 or 10 miles from the transmitter the HD just goes away. Not worth it, besides who wants to listen to a juke box. I know of about a dozen stations that have turned their HD off mostly because of the interference to the main analog channel Lets face it HD is a dead issue (et. am stereo)

Their RDS is back as of last night.  I did contact them on Twitter a few weeks ago when I first noticed it.  Twitter worked for an issue they were having on their HD side at one point too.

Strange observation...their analog RDS seems much more powerful now.  I used to notice that 961's RDS was spotty and it was hard to find areas where the frequency was clear enough to constantly receive new data.  As of last night, my radio was scrolling updated data for each song no matter where I drove...including inside the Squirrel Hill Tunnel, which was shocking.  Maybe they were "updating" something?

I have a Sony XDR-F1HD tuner. I agree that HD radio is a dead horse but this little Sony unit might be the best FM tuner ever made. It out performs high end tuners that cost over $500 in the 70's & 80's!

You could always Shazam It.... one button push after you launch it and its not texting/emailing/IMing so you are safe from the new texting while driving law

I like LyricPlay that is offered on some songs when you Shazzam, very nice feature

also, I thought this for years the new "transistor" radios are your smartphone. I use tunein as my listening portal for my HD sub channels, I connect my android to my cars aux audio input and hook up the 12v DC to the phone, and drive off listening to whatever I like for the 62 miles I drive each way to work and back
