96.1 Nights

Does anyone know if David Allan Boucher is live on KYMX? Apparently, he's been on a Boston AC station hosting "Bedtime Magic" for years, a show similar to the "Night Mix". Has he done a seperate voicetracked show specifically for Sacramento all these years?

It is voice tracked - David Allan Boucher hosts "Bedtime Magic" 8PM-1AM (East Coast Time) live on WMJX (Magic 106.7) Boston. He has been doing this show since January 1982 with enormous ratings...and is an all about good guy! BTW...WMJX is voted the Marconi Radio Awards AC station of the year. I damned near drove off the freeway 7 years ago moving here to California when I heard his voice the first time on KYMX after just relocating from New England. It was that deja vu thing after driving 3,334 miles.

The first time I heard David Allen, I thought to myself, "What kind of last name is that? It sounds like a made up radio name." Then I realized it was my grandmother's maiden name. Is it spelled Buchet or Buchea? When my great-grandfather emigrated from France, it was "Buchet". After being called "bucket" a few thousand times, it was changed to "Buchea". That didn't help either... ???

Is this voice tracked show better than the syndicated "Delilah" or "John Tesh" normally on AC Radio Stations in the eves?

Much better, mainly because it does not have that "syndicated" feel at all...and no callers. I'm not sure if David picks the music, but its a good rotation...mostly gold AC with little/no currents.

Boucher isn't that common a name so I found it interesting that when the station was KCTC in the 70's and 80's the program director and afternoon voice was named Gil Boucher. He pronounced it Boo-shay.

If the show is tracked I'm thinking that he would have little choice in what music gets played, unless he sends a complete show.

His voice tracks are pretty generic. I do like the mix of music (pardon the pun). ;D

I also really like "Saturday at the 70's". My wife doesn't like the commercials, but they don't bother me. :)
