If you guys are in the area between Beltway 8 and 610 on I-45, you'll get the opportunity to hear "Acres Homes Community Radio Station", or at least that's what they are billing themselves. Basically what you'd expect coming out of Acres Homes, hip hop, old school rap, and today (Sunday) gospel tunes. They are even mentioning that this is their 5th day on the air without interruption. I guess they're taking bets on how long they go before they get shut down.

No, this is definitely a "pirate" from here in Houston. They are promoting themselves as an Acres Homes station what seemed like every 10 minutes. Sound quality is poor to average, and they are broadcasting in mono. From what I have heard it is having some issues, basically at times the music sounds distorted, like a fuzz that accompanies the high ends of the music. At other times it sounds clear and precise. I've listened for about an hour here and there. It reaches from the north end of the Heights to around 249/W. Mount Houston, north and south, and from T.C. Jester to about Airline east and west. It was getting hammered by KYKZ (I believe that was the i.d. I heard from Lake Charles) last night here in the Heights.

No. Only a phone number to request a song. I don't know the number, but if you listen, they give it out every few minutes.

No luck picking up "Acres Homes Community Radio" so far in the Galleria area. Aggie 96 KAGG Madisonville well on top in stereo with KYKZ Lake Charles {presumed} cutting in on occassion and for a brief while a Rock or Classic Rock station, closest I could find was KKTX Kilgore listed as Classic Rock.

Aggie 96 seems to be the dominate station here most of the time. It is rare that I can not get a usable signal from KAGG. Looks like we might be in for tropo conditions, maybe fairly decent tonight, with the weather changes. It is unusual for me to get KYKZ without fair tropo conditions.

I was getting the same thing last night, Mike. KYKZ was trumping everything else on 96.1. I did some "investigative driving" yesterday. The signal from Acres Homes drops off dramatically depending on how far away you get from the neighborhood. I don't know what they are using to transmit but when the signal drops off, it drops like a rock. No fading, no in and out, just there one minute and gone the next.

I finally got to listen to The Zone music audio sounded good just need to durn down the bass some. DJs suck on the mic & there audio sounds muffled really bad. Range is only about 2 to 2 1/2 mile range strong signal then about 2 to 3 more miles weak not bad for a station like this. What a buch of dumbasses they give out the stations address there phone # & a bbq restaurant down the street address to they are just asking to be busted 3 to 4 months & The Zone will be shut down. Overall the station is decent just need one lady dj to talk all the time more music & try to get better range.<P ID="signature">______________
