At one time, you could get their signal, now it has become so bad I can't even get it in my car. I like to listen after I get home from work, but forget that. I'm swtching back over to knix. At least I can hear them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way!!

At 6400 watts ERP & 646' HAAT from the southwest side of Wickenburg, I'm surprised it makes it to most of the metro at all.

Re: 96.3 and there good signal

WOW, it's just the opposite for me. It's way better now in my car. On the west side I get it great, and when I was in Apache Junction last week it came in clear. Drove the 101 from Mesa to Cave Creek Rd today and listened all the way. At home I listen on the web or phone app. Get rid of the fur and man you'll be able to hear it. :D

Re: 96.3 and there good signal

Forgot to mention, do you know it's a Wickenburg station, not a Phoenix station? I think they're great, keep it going REAL COUNTRY.

My favorite of the three country stations in the market! I don't even have KNIX or KMLE programmed on my car radio (my mom does but her favorite is also 96.3). KRDE is a good station but now KWSS on its new frequency steps on KRDE in my part of Phoenix.

Again, who at KWSS and the FCC thought 93.9 was a great spot for that station?

It is a good spot for KWSS and it meets all the spacing requirements. KRDE is not a Phoenix station and any listeners they had in the Phoenix Metro were a bonus.

I knew they were in Wickenburg because I worked there, as On-Air Operations Manager in the 90s. They had a nice operation back then, when they also had an AM station (1250). The staff was always friendly. Listening to them now on TuneIn in SoCal as I type. :)

After Owens sold 1580 to ABC, I listened to my station on the Wickenburg signal when I still worked at the network originating out of the Gilbert Drive studios. Now that they put the translator on 96.1 simulcasting AM1260 (what a waste), I can still hear Real Country in Mesa as long as I'm listening to a digitally tuned radio. On the old analog clock radio, forget it... BTW, love listening to Mike Patrick and the live origination on the weeknights!

96.1 duplicating 1260 may be a waste during the day, but at least I can pick up 96.1 in certain parts of the West Valley at night (mainly, if I drive in an east-west direction, if not it's "Nights with Alice Cooper" from KLPX). I can't say that about 1260 at night.

Could Mr. Barna buy the 96.1 translator from John Low and use that to simulcast KSWG for the East Valley?

It's hard to keep up with what you can and can't do with a translator anymore. Isn't there a rule against a commercial station owning a translator outside of its primary contour or am I remembering that wrong?

Of course, everything is for lease for the right dollar amount.

I don't think the FCC cares about the distance between translators and main stations anymore. That's why there's so many "satillators" out there.

92.7 on South Mountain was simulcasting 101.1 when it still had its transmitter site in Payson, and that was outside of the "fringe" contour.

I believe you need the AM facility
