Albuquerque Now has a spanish sports station.
Question Why did they do this? Will it make any money?
Any thoughts on the New 101.7? how well do you think they have come out of the box?

DoubleC...could this just be a temporary format? Between ownership changes? The Phoenix affiliate is on 710 AM...a rimshot AM with a decent frequency/signal (22,000 w daytime, 3,900 w night) but not pulling any ratings to speak of.

One could only dream for the days when KHFM was at 96.3...with no need for a NE heights translator. Here's an idea...move the smooth Jazz format from 104.7 to 96.3. The "City Different folks" would love that!

The debut of 101.7 was minimal. All of a sudden at 7am Friday..it was on.
My opinion only, but not so long ago, the debut of a new station and format was made to be a big deal
for the current listeners and to attract new listeners.
They came on with regular programming, no local hello, we're here..welcome etc.
They certainly had time to listen to the format, get the breaks down and at least prepare public service
stuff or fillers to make it work. I heard a promo repeat at least 4 times, timing to the top of the hour
break to network. A perfect opportunity to have someone, Joe, or whomever, say hello, we are the
new sports station in town, etc.
Again, just an opinion, but the curtain only comes up once, and you have one chance to make the
first impression. But I'm sure there are more factors than any of us are aware of,
I do wish Joe and everyone the best of luck in a tough market.
