96.3 in Austin

It's new. The translator moved from 105.3 after too many complaints about reception problems.

Was the signal coming in too weak? Is that why they moved it? Or was it interfering with another station?

Both. People who wanted to hear the talk station complained Magic 105.3 was stepping on it. And people who wanted to hear Magic 105.3 in South Austin complained the translator was messing with them. 105.3 was a poor choice for a translator in Austin. 99.5, 105.3 and 107.5 are the San Antonio stations that come into Austin-- at least South Austin-- the strongest.

I'm having trouble picking up 96.3 in West Austin at RR620 area. This translator does not appear to have a very good signal. Is 96.3 a bad frequency for Austin?

I guess that explains why I haven't heard it...I'm just south of 183 and MoPac and am still able to run my little Part 15 box on 96.1 with no interference whatsoever.

In the Lockhart area my sangean HD Radio can pull it in pretty decent. I was surprised.

I have a pretty basic setup here, just have a 10$ pair of rabbit ears up in the attic, I can pull in Austin // San antonio clear.
