96.3 KGID Files "License to Cover"

I Heard Classical 0n 96.3 Could This Be KGID Testing There Signal!

There's only one KGID that resonates within my vast memories, and it once proudly proclaimed its broadcasts were from "the state of the art studios in beautiful downtown Buda". Anyone?

Good for Giddings. After 22 years, they've got their radio station back. Let's just see if this one finds itself "Koked" up in the end, like its predecessor did.

It as been alleged by Entercom that the transmitter has been silent before and after the License to Cover was filed and then, granted and remained silent for more than 30 days without a STA. Not too sure how this will unfold. I don't know the cases that the Commission has faced in situations like this. The petition contains cited rules. I'm always interested in legal issues, so it kind of raised my level of interest.

See this for more information.

Update: Licensee of KGID has responded to Entercom's objection, stating that the tower and station were built out according to the permit and that the station is on the air. Also, RF Services is claiming KGID is receiving "massive interference" from 96-3 RnB. This story is not over yet.

Anyone on here out near Elgin, Bastrop, or Taylor? What do you hear?

I am closer to "Austin" and Manor than to Elgin and Taylor but I am probably closer than anyone else to the location that you are requesting. I just tuned into 96.3 MHz and I am picking up "96.3, RnB" if that helps you any.

I'm also hearing classical on 96.3 out in Lavaca county with my antenna up in the top part of the attic... It's weak but I'm hearing it also the HD noise from KHMX.

Classical out of Lavaca County? Any idea of what station that might be? Not a bunch of classical stations out there, specially in places like Hallettsvile, Shiner and such.

There's a 96.3 FM KGGB assigned to Yorktown, Texas near Lavaca County. I'm not sure if Gerald Benavides is running a classical format but I suppose anything is possible.

Believe it or not with my antenna I got now I can even pull in Koke 99.3 FM actually better then I can here close to Austin. Of course it will go out ever so often. I have been pulling in some strange pick ups even one time I got KNCT in HD even with KHVT right there. I think KGGB is in low power, havn't been able to get them in for ever.

The signal seems weaker on 95.9, but I can get KGID now.

In Georgetown I hear religious music on 95.9FM not R&B , what am I missing?

You are hearing KMPN from Burnet at 95.9. It is a 25 kW station that mostly relays the KHCB Network programming (along with some local content).

The skirt of KMPN's signal near Austin will probably be hurt by the translator move, but apparently you are hearing it in Georgetown today.

Do you have the KMPN signal with full quieting?

Its comes in crystal clear, there is not even a hint of of the R&B station. I am near Sun City in Georgetown. So the move to 95.9 has shrunken the R&B station's range.

No doubt it does, and this was something I had considered a problem in moving K242CC to 240. Before KGID signed on, the closest co-channel to the translator was the L1 in Killeen, followed by the A in Yorktown. Now, it contends with a C3 facility on the same channel, residing only 40 miles up the road in Burnet.

I have a feeling the translator is going to be doomed if it stays put.

KGID is playing classic country now.

My Suggestion Is To Flip Mix 94.7 To R/B And Just Shut Off The Translator Since 94.7 Already Sounds Just Like 95.5
