96.5 The Bull Simulcast on 95.9

96.5 Bull in Macon is Simulcasting on a 250 watt translator on 95.9. I cannot seem to find an AM or HD signal to go with that. Does a translator have to simulcast an AM or HD feed too? What is going on here?

96.5, The Bull, is an iHeart station. iHeart KNOWS how to do translators!
FM (and TV) translators were in use many decades before HD came along.
There are many rules which apply to translator operation.
There are quite a few members of our RD group which can better explain the translator rules.

I believe that translator is a fill-in for the 96.5 signal (that station is licensed to Gray, in Jones County, north of Macon). Apparently a weak spot in WIHB's local coverage area that it is permissible to have the translator so long as it doesn't stray outside their primary coverage. It's been on the air for a number of years (I left the Macon market in 2009, and it had been on the air for quite some time then).

Almost certain that this is also to block Y96 into the northeastern sections of Macon as well. After all, Y96 is better and iheart knows it.
