96.5 The stunting has started

I've just listened to a couple of Twilight Zones. Good stuff!

Before they flipped to The Zone, they played Scandal - Goodbye to You. It was nice to hear a 96 Rock song back on that frequency. ;D

Here's the new line-up, beginning Thursday morning, according to a Business Courier story:

6 a.m.-10 a.m.: Mancow Morning Madness
10 a.m.- noon: Glenn Beck
Noon-2 p.m.: Bill O'Reilly
2 p.m.-4 p.m.: Sporting News Radio
4 p.m.-7 p.m.: Phil Valentine
7 p.m.-9 p.m.: Sporting News Radio
9 p.m.- midnight: Rusty Humphries

Note to all the soon to be FM talk sellers. When your management comes into the conference room and starts carrying on about how great this format is going to be understand a few thing...
1. O'Rielly is a good TV host but a terrible broadcaster (Mix sellers might want to take note of that as it pertains to Goldburg).
2. Sports News is not a good middle of the day right turn considering that it will be up against Jim Rome and Lance McAllister.
3. Rusty Humphries??!!!! I'm laughing right now, seriously laughing.
Have fun trying to sell that.

I agree unless this station can get a local host during that 4-7pm slot, it will be gone in a year. Salem tried this with 1160 and failed with all syndicated talk.

I don't think it's their fault, quite frankly. The reason Rusty is on that station is simply because Mancow is on the same station. Both are syndicated by TRN-FM. Several of Mancow's stations have at least one other TRN show on the station; I believe it's regarding a carriage clause in their contract. For example, Mancow's old Utah affil, KFMS, was an FM talker, but had wall-to-wall TRN programs on the sched. And the new talker that launched in Miami, WMEN 640, has Mancow, but also carries Rusty, as well as Tammy Bruce. (You read right: Tammy on WMEN.)

With Furman out at CC, would Cumulus be willing to try sports-talk in PM drive or evenings with him? He's got a strong following and good knowledge in sports, and could maybe boost sales & ratings for the fledgling station.
