I wonder if the same can be said about KOLA 99.9 FM Riverside-San Bernardino. They sound almost like a totally different radio station from 18 months ago and their ratings have really slipped. Here is an example of a two hour block I noted on the LA board a few weeks ago:
1:50 pm – 4:00 pm 3/29/06
Rich Girl – Hall & Oats – 1977*
stopset--------------------------
Too Late to Turn Back Now – Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose – 1972
Brandy – Looking Glass – 1972*
Proud Mary – CCR – 1969
Love Train – The O’Jays – 1973*
stopset -------------------------
Fly Like an Eagle – Steve Miller Band – 1977
One of These Nights – The Eagles – 1975*
Honky Tonk Women – Rolling Stones – 1969*
You’re So Vain – Carly Simon – 1973*
all the above either #1* or #2 hits on Billboard
Old Time Rock & Roll- Bob Seger – 1979
(did a double-take when I saw this one peaked at #28 on Billboard)
stopset -------------------------
You Are the Sunshine of My Life – Stevie Wonder – 1973*
Magic Carpet Ride – Steppenwolf – 1968 (peaked at #3)
Your Mama Don’t Dance – Loggins & Messina – 1972-73 (peaked at #4)
stopset -------------------------
Operator - Jim Croce – 1972 (peaked at #17)
Some Kind of Wonderful – Grand Funk – 1975 (peaked at #3)
What’s Going On- Marvin Gaye – 1970 (did NOT hit #1 on Billboard!)
Come and Get Your Love – Redbone – 1974 (peaked at #5)
Show Me the Way – Peter Frampton – 1976 [they played the LP version]
(OK trivia- which peaked higher on Billboard—“Show Me the Way” or “I’m In You”)
stopset -------------------------
Lean On Me – Bill Withers – 1972* [played the LP version]
Spirit In The Sky – Norman Greenbaum – 1970 (peaked at #3)
Brother Louie – Stories – 1973*
Stopset--------------------------
Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me – Elton John – 1974 (peaked at #2)
[didja know Toni Tennille, Carl Wilson, and Bruce Johnston did backing vocals?]
It’s the Same Old Song – Four Tops – 1965 (peaked at #5) [oldest song in the two hours]
Rock On – David Essex – 1974 (peaked at #5)
Jive Talkin’ – BeeGees – 1975*
---------------------------------
Sundown – Gordon Lightfoot – 1974*
