I used to be able to regularly hear WGZB until recently as a powerful country station is drowning them out here in Danville. Any ideas what it is, WXCC maybe??.

I think you're talking about K-love, WXKY in Stanford. http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/info?call=WXKY&service=FM

They're a class C3 (25,000 watts at 100 meters HAAT) 9.9 miles from Danville on 96.3.

They cover Danville really well: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WXKY&service=FM&status=L&hours=U

That would make reception of WGZB really difficult. Maybe you should just try to like contemporary Christian music instead of that urban stuff. ;D

I am not talking about WXKY, I am talking about 96.5 WGZB. I have a good enough tuner that 96.3 does not bother 96.5. And what is wrong with urban "stuff" anyway. Look at some ratings sometime and you will see what the public in general prefers.

ahhh...the compassionate conservative faction weighs in...
hap-hap-happy holidays. thump thump thump

OK, Chris. Congratulations on your truly incredible tuner that can pick up a class A FM 70 miles away while well within the city grade contour of a station on the first adjacent channel. Dude that's awesome!

But I hope you can forgive me for thinking that you had a more normal tuner.

The very existence of WXKY on 96.3 means there can't be a 96.5 anywhere near you because of minimum FCC mileage seperation requirements. In fact, the only other 96.5 in the state of Kentucky is a LPFM in Hopkinsville at 38 watts. So we'll have to look out of state.

WFTK in Dayton is 50 KW, but it's not country.

WAZY in Lafayette Indiana? That's 50 KW...but not country.

WDOD Chattanooga? No, that's not country either.

Dude. I'm stumped. Good luck on that.

And romer... lighten up dude. It was a joke.

What kind of tuner can pick up a station clearly over 70 miles away yet reject it's first adjacent 9 miles away? This WXCC you speak of is in Pikeville. Pretty much the other side of you from Louisville. Are you using a yagi to listen to B-96?

Look at some ratings sometime and you will see what the public in general prefers.

According to the fall book, people in Louisville are listening to country.

Actuall kyscott, this tuner is my Pioneer Supertuner 3 in my car. I have a pre-set for 96.5. I can hear B96 pretty well at work because of it's location. Also I can hear a rock station from Cincinnati on the same frequency by moving up or back about three feet but lately this other country outlet is overtaking both of these signals from afar. Pioneer Supertuners are the greatest in my opinion for sensitivity and selectivity. The Delco in my other car, that's another story.

Could it be the former 96.5 WXJB now at 96.7 as WMYL, Merle FM Total Country. Out of Halls Crossroads,TN.
I agree those Pioneer Supertuners are great!!! Happy hunting or DXing.

No PRO jammer, as I drive around here in Danville and Lancaster as well, the signal seems to be strong and very consistent. I was wondering if a station had gotten approved for a construction permit. The signal has been too consistent. Also there is an urban oldies using 105.9 that I can hear only for a few miles around Danville, mainly on the west side. Maybe a "pirate". Someone said Rick Dees operates a small station from his home here. I don't know.

If it's strong and consistent, why not listen until the top of the hour when they ID? Do they have any liners, jingles, positioning statements, or anything like that?

The legal ID is supposed to be "hourly, as close to the hour as feasible, at a natural break in
program offerings. "

I've tried to listen but grew frustrated with the interference with B96 and tuned to 101.3 or something else. I dont't really care, I was just wondering if someone had a CP and was on the air with it. I do have a Radio Shack 10 element that is very old but works very well. I used to use it to pick up WBLZ from Hamilton-Cincinnati at 103.5 FM.

101.3 is WMJM that plays R&B for "adults" , no hip-hop.
