Coming back from New York City on Saturday night I heard a weak signal on 96.7 playing disco, being interfered with by a pirate. Is 96.7 The Coast back on the air from Stamford?
Ed wrote he signed off the Coast...i don't think your hearing the Coast on 96.7 FM...
The last song that was played on the Coast was the Beatles goodnight.
Than we ran a bunch of jingles back to back from the old days. Than legal ID than I dumped the transmitter.
I've checked in several times a day since the station signed off around Midnight on May 18-19, and all I've heard is static. I'm in Westchester County & got good reception of the station previously & would suspect I'll get decent reception of the station when it signs back on from New Rochelle.
So most likely you were hearing a pirate or two battling it out or some distant station(s) floating in temporarily.
I just find it hard to believe a pirate would have a disco format. I couldn't get an ID because the disco station was fading in and out and was eventually overtaken by a pirate, then IBUZ from 96.5. Maybe it was tropo.
