96.7 Thibedoux

OK Not even on the radar apparently but Oldies 96.7 Thibedoux has flipped to 96.7 Dan FM playing varity hits ( classic rock/ classic hits) ( the change happened April 1st I believe. At least on the way home April 1st is hen I found it.

I don't get it this is what the fourth format since Sunburst bought the station from GUARANTY BROADCASTING COMPANY OF BATON ROUGE, LLC. The oldies format was working or they get a kick going head to head with KTIB? So if 640 goes classic country will 96.7 go that route to?

As far as the format I like it. They are playing AOR music and classic rock/ classic hits. About once an hour there is actually an album track. Today I heard Kool and the Gang b/w Judas Priest ;D

Since they took over, they went from a/c to gold based a/c to oldies to the current Dan (which to me sounds like a classic hits/classic rocker with a few pop hits thrown in)

I don't think KTIB has nothing to do with it, even though I haven't seen any as of late numbers, KTIB is putting NO advertising in this area, whereas oldies 96.7 was heavily promoted and had a few people listening.

My guess is Sunburst got them a new consultant, as the Rock format that was going good at KXOR got flipped to a modern rock wanna be with crap people turn off for 104.1 around 2pm now calling themselves K-Rock..

The country station, I want to see as it's got a new image package and they have a month and a half to move to the tower east of New Orleans (even though I can guarantee KCIL is one of the top stations and my guess billers in the area)

Actually I've been waiting to hear Gap is gonna sell KTIB again.... unless he does surprise me and decides to hold it this time.. My guess though would be to kick the Balcony to the curb and go oldies right now with a promotion.. then I think they could steal what oldies 96.7 just jettisoned (as 94.3 WTIX and 106.1 have issues at times in this area with reception)

I'm willing to bet that this is a temporary format while Sunburst waits to move 107.5 into New Orleans. When that happens, I suspect that 107.5 will launch with a new format, while KCIL and the country format will slide down to 96.7, which itself is preparing to upgrade and move to a new tower to improve Houma-Thibodaux coverage (they just changed city of license from Morgan City to Gray.)

C I was thinking about that, but personally, why kill a oldies format that isn't costing you anything to promote (as most promotions in the area is tied with the blanket Sunburst media ads like ESPN 1490 kind of is) for a format you will have to kill in 2 months to flip on another station (I would guess move Dan to 107.5 and the NOLA market would be my guess on a format).

The liners on KCIL 107.5 do sound weird like yeah they are trying to save a buck before flipping (as we have one Vo doing the liners and one doing the station branding apparently), but then I wouldn't pay a VO guy to make me new liners for a station I'm killing in 2 months.(which doesn't have this problem as the ones on 107.5)

Either they were trying to save some funds on KCIL or something....

Still kind of wondering as they got till May 14th to get off the pot....

My guess is that day may fall by the way side like most of the KCIL moves were before
(I'd rather see them move to Larose and pull a KLRZ to cover both NOLA and the bayou)
