I've been hearing a lot of rumors that 96.7 WBZT the 700 watt FM in Greenville is going to flip to spanish.

Anyone with more info?

Wao!!! I am not sure if that will be a good move having "OLI" 103.9 with 6K in the area already broadcasting in Español...

I agree. The Buzzard could be put to better use. It would have to compete against the established 103.9, several AM's...and the pending flip on 105.3 (I still think that will happen).

Well now I am hearing it was just a rumor started by someone who couldn’t get air time from Davidson Media on WOLI.

I think WBZT could be put to better use. Maybe a Jack-FM format or Oldies? The last thing we need is another Spanish.

I'm surprised The Buzzard has lasted as long as it has - the numbers 12+ have been flat for ages now.

That station should have gone oldies late last Summer right after 106.3 switched. WBZT has never had any numbers at all. Time and time again oldies has proven it can pull at least a 3.5 to 4 in that market. More corporate nonsense about being uninterested in 50+ demos!

WBZT, Oldies, Entercom, and other nonsense

I didn't think of that but you're right, they should have flipped to Oldies then.

I can understand the reluctance to indulge (gasp) 50+ geezers but what's so stupid is that Entercom dropped Oldies for something worse TWICE. First for the ill-fated "Star 103" and then for "The Walk", which as one wag pointed out is still crawling.

Back to WBZT. It would seem to me to be a lot better to be the ONLY Oldies station instead of the third rock station. I think the original game plan was to play spoiler to WROQ but they haven't made a dent. Give it up Bill!
