96-7--WESTCHESTER County's Greatest Hits?

Scott Fybush is reporting on is site that Cox Radio is looking to change the city of license of WCTZ 96-7 The Coast from Stamford to Port Chester. The FCC approved the move before leaving for Christmas break.

Personal note: I recently applied for a board op job at Cox Norwalk and will be going for an interview on 1/7/07. I wonder will The Coast's studios move?

As I also posted in the NYC board, where someone else posted the news in speculation that the station will make a move for the NYC market:

So much for Fairfield County's local station, custom-designed for Fairfield county.

The ironic thing is that they might probably still continue to claim that, since the average listener pays no attention or never even notices the once-an-hour legal ID buried within a stop set.

The transmitter wouldn't be moving, correct? It's very visible along I-95 near the trasnportation center. It always wipes out WQHT-FM 97.1 in this stretch, no matter what type of Walkman I've ever used.

Of course the initial proposal to change the table of allotments wont admit that they want to move their tower but expect it. They did the same thing to change a COL of an Atlanta market rimshot saying they would not be changing facilities but in the coming months expect to see an application to move 96.7.
