96.9 KGY FM Morning Show

Reports coming into the Roadz News Desk this morning of the parting of ways between Val Vaughn (Morning Jock), Steve George (News Director) and KGY FM 96.9 McCleary.

Looks like they have been surgically removed from the station website. So what gives?

BIG congratulations and best of luck to our board friend Jackson Dell Weaver on his new job as chief bottle washer at KGY A/F. Good for you hoss; not like you don't know how to run a station or two. Maybe you'll find a place for our buddy Randy Roadz?

Ditto

Yes, Jackson Dell Weaver is an excellent choice. That's great news.

And I could always become "Your Olympia Radio Pal....." Still searchin'!!!

Well that fills a gap for former KNBQ listeners. Great Jackson! Now what happens with "Cool Classics and Hot Hits", do people start listening to a static-ridden KPLZ, or what?

I don't think that's quite the end. KANY is moving in towards Seattle and the rumor says there could be a format flip for 93.7 if their signal is strong enough in the general Seattle area (I'm sure KIRO would want an FM outlet to use for ESPN.) Country is pretty much sewn up between KMPS and KKWF in Seattle, so a THIRD, weaker signaled country competitor wouldn't have a chance (think KNBQ)....

By flipping to country, KGY-FM scoops up the remaining South Sound country fans. It's a smart move on one hand......

On the other, for the South Sound pop fans.....Wow.....Not that many terrestrial radio options. And KRXY's signal only goes so far.

Guess that's another huge bunch of listeners tossed freely away to the internet/SiriusXM......

I've heard KRXY clear up to Auburn, but KMIH's translator mostly dominates. I've received it all over the Hood Canal area where Seattle stations are pretty static-ridden due to the multipath and hills.
