96.9 Preeempts Jay Severin on Imus for Bush

96.9 preempted their own Jay Severin in his moment of garbled glory on Imus this morning to carry Bush's speech live from the UN.

Good move. Jay Severin was embarassingly incoherent. Sounded like he just got up and was on a bad "cheap phone" as The Dean would say.

Somebody still listens to Imus? :)

Not sure if I-man was doing the show from NYC or his ranch but if it were the former, I'll bet Severin's "undisclosed location" was closer to _there_
(NYC) than to Morrissey Blvd.

Hey, Howie didn't come here to be made sport of! And of course I much
prefer the Master of Fried Clams and Tar-Tar Sauce to Jay Excedrin anyway.<P ID="signature">______________

ooops--you mean Skoot and Blotto! I forgot that the Severino appearance in question was a _morning one_ on Imus' show, not on his own! Gotcha.

Raccoon -

They should pre-empt for speeches, and how valid is Severin anyway? Even on Imus?

don't you think Jay Severin is a bit of a hypocrite - dis-ingenuine-ousness...or as the Three Stooges might say - dumb, even.

He will do or say ANYTHING to get ratings. He will morph into a progressive if paid the right amount of money.

With Bush poll #s down, Bush admitting to his first mistake!!! (The rest of us have counted tens of thousands of errors), firing (resigning? How do you resign someone?) Brownie for not putting enough sauce in the brownies...do you think Carr and Severin will have much

Don Imus does himself no favors by putting Severin on - when you get bounced from the weakest show on MSNBC, Tucker Bow Tie, things are not as "best and bright" as they can be. Ever seen Severin's teeth? Go talk to him at a remote - talk about smoke stains...and he's a "professional" - a smile made for radio.

The President's speech to the UN is news, so for a talk station like WTKK-96.9, it was a no-brainer, even if it meant breaking-in to their star talk-show's host appearance on a national program.
