96.9 The Beat

96.9 The Beat began its broadcast with a Rhythmic/Old School format, after hours of a beating heart. As mentioned the station has a big signal clear into the Antelope Valley.Stevewww.xrqkfm.com

My how things change. Just 2 years ago...AGM had all their guns aimed at Clear Channel...Hot vs. Kiss, KGFM vs. K-Lite, Real Rock vs. KRAB, KERN vs. KGET. Now...they're 100% aimed at poor little Buckley. Beat vs. Groove, Pirate vs. KLLY, KGFM vs. Breeze. KERN vs. KNZR. Either they CAN'T innovate...or they WON'T. Come on...how about oldies? A real ALternative? Perhaps a true CHR? FM Talk? No balls...no glory. All they do is water down the shares of everyone else's stations by trying to get a piece of another's pie. God forbid you should try to create your own pie!

I totally agree! There are so many ways to go with 96.9. I think the crew at Groove will be a tough opponent! I hear the PD is a stud and that morning show connects to the audience like no other. I'm surprised they didn't do another 'Jack' format to go with the other two.

I'd bet The Beat stays jockless...about the same as KGFM and exactly like Pirate. Everyone knows that AGM isn't about talent, they're about their sales staff. What do they have now, like 5 live DJ's (not counting the KERN staff?). No staff=no salaries=no headaches=no opportunities=no promotions=no creativity=no real broadcasting...just cash the checks.

You sound like a displaced AGM'er too.... I used to think it was really just small town radio being successful, but since they started blowing stations up, they've got about as much heart and character as CC.No wonder Bob left.

Since I'm not in Buck-Town and won 't be for a while(I have crazy people for a family, I ain't going to see them) what is the Beat sounding like? Can someone post a log(sample hours) Is it Gold based, Current based?
